Software for automatic opening & closing of PC

Hi friends,

I want a software which can automatically open and shut down my PC at a given time and is 100% tested for this type of function.

Regards

Kmplayer can shut down pc at a specific time, it was shutting mine down at 10.30 everyday thought it was a virus:rofl: but found this option it was set to 10.30 just unticked it lol.

^ooh sorry their is a way!
u need to hibernate u'r PC and got to apply u'r brain in the BIOS ....i did it a lot of time when i used my BSNL night unlimited connection
it works awesome but it's just that i can't help u through u'r BIOS since .....i am specialised in mine only:ashamed:

^^ what he said. Turn-off can be easily managed with software, but for turn-on, your BIOS should have the feature. Mine has the feature. Just explore your BIOS, but be careful :)

auto shutdown softwares are available in abundance and many of them are reliable also....but just need to test them before using them for the official purpose:)

Why use a software for shutting down?
Simply go to run and tyoe this:
shutdown -s -t 60

This will turn off your PC after 60 secs.
Put the time after which you want to shutdown in seconds.

To abort use:
shutdown -a
For turning it on do what the others said tweak your BIOS.

Will this shutdown even if we get some sort of end task types messages ??
You see sometimes it happens that we click on shutdown but some task is blocking something and it is now stuck on END TASK thing and PC does not shut down then.
Asking because happened with me 2 days back, when i just clicked on shut down and kept my lappy in bag and went home and at night realized it was never shut down but still stuck at end task :ashamed:

^ It will work. This shutdown is the same (forced shutdown) as the one which you get when you kill the wrong svchost.exe in task manager.

I had a similar problem like yours (due to a virus) problem in office. The system would always get stuck at end task for some or the other process so I used to use this to shutdown the computer.

To restart I used to use: shutdown -r -t 0

The situation was so bad that I created batch files on desktop with these commands.

There are many tools available to shutdown your PC at a particular time. To switch on at a particular time, set the "Reset by alarm" option in BIOS.
