Software for Editing AVCHD .Mts file

I am planning to create a movie using videos recorded using Canon Full HD Cam. The recording format is AVCHD .MTS.

Any experience which software to buy, please help

adobe premiere pro CS5 or the latest CS6 (the BEST & cheapest with loads of filters)
Avid FreeDV - with limitations

It would help if you tell us on what system are you planning the install ?
What is your Budget ?
Which Canon HDCam do you have ?
What/Where/Whom is your final output targetted for ?

Cheers

^^ Can't go with the conversion option, its too much time taking also quality might degrade...
@terence_fdes Will have a try on Adobe premiere pro...

1) Will install on Core i5 system with 4GB DDR3 RAM and 1GB DDR5 GPU
2) Budget > no bar
3) Using Canon Vixia HF M31 full hd
4) Basically i got lot and lot of vids recorded of my parties, tours, gags and some personal occasions, Its really pain to watch them without editing, I want to keep all of them as memories..

If you can pump up your rig with 8/12 GB RAM you will get better performance (on 4GB things will crawl especially when you have to render or even playback long duration files). You have a good camera, however I think the accompanying software "Pixela ImageMixer 3SE Video Editing Software" is not upto the mark.

Adobe Premier Pro CS6 will have everything that you need (you could also check out the numerous tutorials on youtube)

Cheers

"Pixela ImageMixer is like a stone age software..:annoyed:

There are good deals going for Corsair 16GB DDR3 for 5k planning to buy that, by that time will try Premier Pro CS6 and will post the results.. order time :)
