Hey guys I am looking for a software which allows easy physical stock management. The basic functions i am looking at are-

* allows quantity to be added/ deducted easily
* should have a search option so that a keyword is typed and all relevant items with details should show up.
* Entering data should be simple & if cn be transfered rom excel it would be an added advantage.

Thanks in advance guys, any help would be appreciated.

well the portfolio management of moneycontrol is a good option for free. cant import from excel though.

aing, i can see people are already confused , some people are referring it to stock as in "Shares" whereas i think the post is regarding "Asset" management if im right :s or i might be wrong here again.

Can refer to something but its no phree....so will let others comment on this.

assuming that you run some kind of business and have a stock of certain things, like computer items, consumer durables etc.

in this case i say MS Excel is more than enough for small timers.

I am not sure about this but you can even do it in Tally.

or get in touch with some local software firm for ERP. They might be having generic softwares too.

if u are not expecting ans keeping equity in mind.... check out applications from zoho.com

U can create ur own DB based applications without knowledge of programming or u can get it designed in their market place ( or get help from TE members as well).

Zoho web based application suite is fantastic...

ok you meant inventory management software.

i found one freeware software:

POS Software Imonggo by Imonggo POS Software - Review and download

dont have a store so i haven't used it.

Edit: to use it user need to sign up on the http://www.imonggo.com/ site for a free account.

Imonggo is not just a POS system, but a complete web-based retail management solution that enables you to operate and manage hundreds of retail stores.

Imonggo combines point of sale, inventory management, sales analysis, customer relationship management and business intelligence functions into an easy and intuitive user interface.

Gawd people, he's clearly mentioned PHYSICAL stocks in his first post, so obviously not looking to manage equity shares! Learn to read!

LOLz most of the people are not even reading the replies and it is funny. the OP has asked for a inventory and stock maintaining software with search able database.

Moneycontrol.com has an amazing portfolio management with automatic update of your profit/loss along with option of adding mutual funds, assets etc.

Have been using it for more than a year now and no need for any software.
