Software Required To Increase Startup Perfomance

hi,

my operating system is e8400 vista 32 bit 2 Gb ram Hd 4670 250 gb hdd its taking a lot of time to start up around 25-30 seconds after windows starts before i can click to start any program.. Start up is very slow any application through which i can quicken it ??

The delay may be due to Anti virus used. Remove all the unwanted application from startup and update vista with it's SP1

+1 to that!

1.Use an anti-virus software that is less resource hogging !
Something like NOD32 should do the job...

2.Start-> Run->msconfig->Startup
And Disable the unwanted applications !

You could use |MG| CCleaner Slim (No Toolbar) 2.14.763

It's a nifty App. Go to Tools and hit the Startup Tab. It will list all programs starting up at boot. I'd disable all but for the AV and other security Apps if any.

Op you can also use :

CCleaner - Home and edit start-up entries and clean your system, i use it all the time, i cant imagine using Vista without CCleaner.

run ccleaner, tune up utilities and an ad-aware/spybot scan.

Use nod32 as your AV. Ensure that softwares like yahoo messenger/ google talk do not auto-start when windows starts (You can start them later anyway)

dont know if applicable acording to the title...bt u can try Hibernating pc instead of shutting down.

saves alot of time during startup...

When there was less RAM to hibernate from its faster but what is the difference when RAM is 2GB ?

^ More the ram,more data it fetches from disk while making up from hibernation. Even if have noticed more wake time with 2 gig ram but i think that also depends on how much ram was offloaded to disk during sleep . Hybrid sleep is pretty good in vista if you can make sure not to power off pc completely.

Whatever amount of ram you have(since ram amount equals the hibernate file on your hard drive), hibernation is still faster than conventional windows boot. Since it depends on hard drive, a faster hard drive would benefit in faster system resume from hibernation.

wid 1GB i surely noticed huge difference wid hibernation.

wid 2GB...it feels like it takes similar time to reach login window...bt i still prefer it as all the required apps are already loaded.

restore it back and decrease your startup time , immediately .
