Software to edit Videos

I want to reduce resolution of videos and convert it into other formats. Please suggest me any good software.

I know few softwares, but i wnat to know wht you guys use, which might be better than used by me.
instead of wasting your word ... should have recomended some s/w.

If all you want to do is change the resolution and format, then VirtualDub with the appropriate codec will be more than enough for your needs.
