It's Nothing Personal

I have Windows installed on a drive with 45GB, I also have another unformatted partiton of 20GB. I need to join these two partitions without having any consequence on my windows install. The other partition has no files in it and is not used at all, I had plans for it but they're scrapped now.

You can choose to use the inbuilt disk management tool in windows, or you could opt for Easeus Partition Master Free version.

I've checked the inbuilt disk management, but there's no such option to merge two partitions. I'll try out the other software.

You can try deleting the formatted partition and extend the space to your windows partition. Not sure if it will work.

#blkrb0t , do as #Rahul++ have suggested, i have tried that in WIn 7 , and it worked for me

Google 'Partedmagic'. Its a Linux based livecd running 'parted' software. Parted can resize, create, delete partitions.

Gparted or Paragon Partition manager will do the job usd later one to merge partitions in Vista long back and it works.

right click on "My Computer". select "Manage". go to Disk Management and do whatever u want with your partitions.

All the tasks can be easily achieved by the built in Disk Management.

Do the following:

1. Open the Disk Management.

2. Right click the empty partition and select "delete Volume"

3. This will result in "Unallocated Space"

4. Right click on the adjacent partition that you wish to extend.

5. Select "Extend Volume", check the size and click ok

There you go..
