even though you close the program,if you have powersaving settings on by default,then you are saving unused cpu cycle power.all it does is show how much you have saved.use a monitoring utility like core temp or cpuz and you will see that your processor has throttled down to say like 800mhz or 1600 depending on how you've set it to run.all the energy saver does is show the power saved,like a power-meter.and,if the system is not scaling according to the load,does the work.
