Sola Vs Arc S (Processor Vs Screen) Which would be better?

My friend is buying a phone within 4 days.. He has got 1k Ebay coupon, so :yes:
I have gone through all the phones in his price range (15k to 17k max) like HTC One V, Xperia U, Sola, Galaxy Ace Plus, Defy Xt, Defy plus and more.. Now I have suggested him to buy Xperia Sola.. But today we stumbled upon Arc S with Dealer warranty for 17k in Ebay..
He doesn't mind Buying with dealer warranty and Arc S suits his requirements better than Sola. So which one is a better buy for his needs?

1. Q: Budget?
A: 17.5k Max (Not a paisa more :bleh: )

2. Q: Preferred Form Factor(flip, bar, slider)?
A: Bar

3. Q: Preferred display type?
A: TFT, LCD, AMOLED (Large is better)

4. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: Android is a must. So Sony, HTC or Samsung

5. Q: Preferred input method (Touchscreen, QWERTY, etc.)?
A: Touchscreen

6. Q: Camera required or not? If required, please specify type like front camera/flash/etc.
A: Required. At least 5MP camera. A good one.

7. Q: Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
A: Android ONLY

8. Q: Preferred connectivity options? (3G, Wifi, Edge etc).
A: WiFi is a must

9. Q: What is your intended use for this phone(internet, camera, multimedia, mails, etc)?
A: Watching Videos, Music, Camera, Mails and Internet. NO GAMING.

10. Q: Any other requirements?
A: Should have good build quality.

11. Q: If you have already considered a phone then please mention the model.
A: Most probably Arc S else Xperia Sola

Head to Head

Sola Over Arc S
1. Better Processor and GPU (Might not matter that much for occasional browsing)
2. More Internal Memory

Arc S Over Sola
1. Larger and Better screen (Well ppi might be less but Added size is huge for Browsing and Watching Videos)
2. Better Camera
3. Better Looks

Arc S is last year's Model and Sola is new generation. Should that affect the decision making? Since he doesn't play games and doesn't use heavy apps that much, isn't Arc S a better choice for him? And
Please pour in your suggestions as soon as possible.. Only 4 days left.. :lol:

Dealer warranty = no warranty (almost) Is your friend ready to buy a gadget for 17.5k which has no warranty?
If he is that sure then Arc S is a pretty decent choice given that other than the SoC and the internal memory it is better than the Xperia Sola in all other aspects. Its also better suited to your friends needs.

Pros.(Sola)
1.Future proof,with a dual core Proccy. atleast it won't die out soon.
2.NFC (not a deal breaker, but future phone will have this feature and he might feel missed out)
3. Mali GPU.
4. 5GB internal memory, which is better compared to 320 MB. For me this is deal breaker.
5. Touch Sensetive buttons, Arc S has button and its annoying (personal opinion). And the buttons are not easy to press, have to put in some effort. (This is deal breaker for me)

Cons.
1. Smaller screen.
2.Smaller Battery (1320 v 1500 of Arc S)
3. 5MP v 8MP of arc S.

Verdict : Get Xperia Sola.

Stay away for Arc S - hopeless phone.

1. Single core processors - 1.4ghz is just a gimmiky - the ICS update takes a toll on performance. Typing in portrait phone is very painful.
2. Very slim - Its so slim that its hard to carry around and its kind of heavy.
3. Slim profile make the phone hot- runs considerably hotter than other phones.
4. No future expandibility options.

5. Screen is no better than Sola, Sola has more ppi and better outside visibility.
6. Sola even though has a weak dual core soc is still way ahead than any single core SOC in the market.
7. GPU performance of sola is on par with many phones so not very rickety as well.

Other than MIUI and few other custom rom support Arc S has no other advantage . Ohh and this is a hands on review you can say since my room mate has ArcS

Multi core SOC in itself is useless, since Android is not optimized for multicore CPU atleast for now. No doubt it may become available with Jelly Bean 4.1.x.

However Novathor SOC will be a hit given its available for cheap with considerable great performance over single core phones + most of the mainstream users buy phone in 10-20l range in which no other dual core Soc is available atleast for now

So should I tell him to buy Sola itself or Arc S? :D
He is not worried about ICS or Jellybean upgrades.. He is telling he wont upgrade since many of the users are facing lagging problems and others..

It's got a sexy curved body, much much bigger and better screen, much much better camera.

Lol why are you people soo stuck up with procc and gpu? Is that the world's definition to you?

^^ Go and check at Sony center, Screen of Sola is much better than ArcS. Bigger is not better .

Also Soc is important for future expandibility POV. ICS works hopelessly in ArcS wonder if someone port Jelly Bean port how it will work.

Get Sola from hs18 HomeShop18 - Online Shopping India 15.9k with manufacturer warranty. No need to risk from some rickety ebay dealer.

Is it, ICS is pretty decent on my bro's phone Galaxy S I9003 (CM9 based ROM), which is a 1ghz single core. RAM plays a huge part in ICS performance, anything over 512mb and it is noticeable.
