Doesn't matter how godly your refresh rate, games will always feel better v-sync'ed (ie if the game can do triple buffering, else turn it off).
Vsync means that the fps will be locked to the refresh rate of ur monitor. That means it'll stick to 60fps in case of a panel (60Hz refresh is the standard on 99% of the panels). So any frame rate higher than refresh rate will cause screen tearing. Thats the job of vsync.... locking the frame rate to a particular value .goldenfrag said:I ran CS Source with AF on 16x and AA on 2x and V-Sync on i got 60 FPS.
w/o V-sync i got 130 FPS.
Go figure.

That's why I said games always 'feel' better v-sync'ed.Ein said:On the contrary, refresh rate is what determines the actual frames which you see.
VSync merely coincides a refresh with the display of your front frame buffer.
The sole purpose of VSync, AFAIK, is to prevent tearing of graphics; if there is none, better to leave it off as, IMHO the extra frames serve to improve the visual quality.
