i have a va1912wb which is a non hdcp compatible monitor so if i connect a ps3 to my monitor using a hdmi to dvi convertercable will it work????

there is mkv2vob out there. Thats simplest way to achieve HD Content playback which is in MKV container on PS3.

No it won't. The main reason I did not go for a PS3. You need an HDCP compatible TV/Monitor.
