Soon, we'll be releasing the first in a series of updates to Counter-Strike: Source which will be focused on moving the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward.

The first update will include an updated version of the map Train, which will feature an HDR lighting pass, some minor layout changes, and a number of small bugfixes.

The second facet of this release will be a completely reworked radar system. There will be a significant change to the aesthetics of the radar, but there are also some fairly significant gameplay ramifications to the new system. One example: when you look directly at an enemy for a long enough time for their name to appear on your screen, everyone on your team will be able to see that enemy in the radar. We're planning on releasing this first update in about two weeks.

Read this yesterday :D.

Quite interesting.. I wanna see how the New Radar works out :D.

Looks like they really want to improve CSS :D.

Itll be confusing in Pub though... Lol.. too many Red Dots will appear ...

Check out the steam forums, many ppl are whining abt the new change since they wan't it to be as original as possible.Rumours are tht there is even a petition going on to stop this update.

ppl at steam forums r whining even b4 the update. And i dont understand the point of comparing CSS with 1.6..if they like 1.6 so much why cant they just stick with it n stay quiet?
With every change in CSS they go n whine about how css sux :P

anyway..am eagerly waiting for this update:P

Wow, the update is awesome. you get a whole view of the map. Like some sort of satelite image. Bombsites are also clearly marked and allies out of radar view will appear as triangles pointing where they are.

Terrorists appear as red circles while CT's as blue. You can even see which direction each one of your team mates is looking in. You are identified as a circle with a white centre. Enemies once spotted by allies will apear on the radar as long as they are view. Units killed will appear as crosses. Once a bomb is placed, an icon appears along with a pulse wave clearly showing which bombsite it is at. The best part is when you die, you have an expanded view of the map including positions of all the units(ally and enemy) and their healthbars. Valve have really spoiled us with this update.

Most importantly, now when you crouch, your POV actually comes from the head, and not the crotch. This was long due. Crouch at A in D2 looking at double doors at B, and you will realize the difference.

Also type cl_radaralpha 1 in your console to revert back to the old radar if you dont like this new one.

yes i was stumped by that change.... its for the better.... these updates will give a whole new playing experience to the game.

the radar is damn cool also. this reminds me of a SUPER advanced version of the overview map in 1.6. This supersedes it nicely.

my laptop is now too underpowered to comfortably run the game. I am jsut waiting to get back on my NEW desktop to own all noobs once and for all. Yea baby :P
