I have installed windows xp pro including sp3.

But I have any kind of autoupdate like antivirus, windows, etc. I turn them off and do it manually.

Since autopatcher is taken down, its been irritating time for manual downloaders.

So I wanted to know are there offline windows xp updates available?

OR if I download latest sp3 from official microsoft website, would it contain all latest updates, so it will be easy if we get them all in 1 pack.

I also read on some websites that pre sp4 is also available. What do you think about it? Install or not?

So I am expecting some brainstorming reactions from you techies.:P

1. Download SP3 to update your PC till that.

2. Good new: Autopatcher is NOT dead :ohyeah:Check it out. Now it comes zipped up as a small program which then downloads all your updates directly from MS FTP servers :D

Same method to install.

NOTE: Even autopatcher asks you to get SP3 first cos it will only download updates post SP3.

EDIT: Whoops: You already have SP3. Theres nothing called latest SP3 :P Its always the same. Just use autopatcher and get the latest updates. Once all downloads complete, just pick the ones to apply ;)

Damn you are saying autopatcher is still available after it was officially forced to close by Microsoft giving legal notice!

Let me see do some googling.

Yes I have sp3. I mean to say, if I download latest sp3 direct from official microsoft site, will it have all updates till now so I would not have to download them additionally one by one?

you wouldnt have to go to all this trouble if automatic updates is on.

most of the time you can install only the updates you want when the update icon flashes in the task bar.

you get a custom install option too and can select which updates are installed :P

1. The notice was for packaging MS updates in their packaging. They got around it by releasing in script form. The script downloads the packages on your system from MS servers :) Still running at least ;) Once its on your disk, just copy it to the system you need to install on.

2. Look, if you have SP3 installed, trying to install it again wont get you any packages extra :) SP3 always contains the SAME fixes. They dont update service packs :P

Windows XP is the tested Os from Microsoft. But if you regularly updating it and if you install Special Packs then it is no problem but becareful about it's firewall.

How to check for updates in autopatcher?

If we run autopatcher again, it shows list but don't rectify which is downloaded and which is not.

Theres a file called apup.exe in the downloaded folder. Use it to update/download the latest patches/updates.

Then run autopatcher.exe to update your system. Patches already installed are shown in bright blue. Ones shown as black are those not installed yet, so you can pick n choose the ones u want.

Yes I know this. This comes at a later part.

But

Theres a file called apup.exe in the downloaded folder. Use it to update/download the latest patches/updates.

In this step, when I run it again, it again shows the same tick marks for some files which I have already downloaded. How should I make sure which files I need to download and which are already downloaded in this step.

The tick mark AFAIR, is to choose which release to update, correct? THat will be there everytime man.

like this:

Leave those 3 boxes checked and press next. It will then proceed, to update those and download any new files for Xp-32 (checked there)
