someone paid my mobile bill

today i went online to pay my vodafone bill and see credit of 1.05k :S
few days back i received sms telling me that 1.25k was credited to my account by cheque. i thought it must be wrong sms since i pay through cc only. now how do i find out which bugger paid my bill and return the money. 1.25k is not a small amount towards bill imo. poor guy must be wondering where his money went.

I cant say much about mobile bills

But i read an article in newspaper where in someones account somebody bimistakely deposited 75k cash....that chap remain quiet and enjoyed the interest on it for 3 years ..Later when the bank came to know about this discrepancy they not only resolved but also deducted the interest plus also pressed charges on his attention as he was aware of the entry...

Anyways yours is not that serious issue..but be ready and do check your balance at regular interval as it might be reveresd any moment...

Do nuthin..according to me

earlier becoz of mistake people used to recharged someones else mobile..same is the scenario with u

Keep quiet for couple of day but do keep checking balance and if u get call tell them i had told my friend to make payment so u were unaware of the stuff

Because its the persons mistake and he should furnish detail to the company...if u try to be nice the company will keep the money for themselves as charity(easy money)...and both u and that person will be at ground zero

And if u think its really wrong for the advantage u got than donate the sum of bill to some serious charity(on the mistaker's name) but not right now wait untill next bill comes(for charity)
 
I think there might be some details with them. You can forward a complaint to the billing dept saying that you have not paid this.

Let your mobile company reverse the charges as I think that can be done.

this is so true. happens to me so many times. whenever i go to do something nice, even if it not my fault i get clobbered and made to feel like i'm a bad person. some people are so rude and mean in life.
 
Call up the billing department and let them know. I guess once the other person gives a complaint they would automatically reverse the amount but for the sake of the other soul get the process going. All its going to take is a call.

sent a mail to them. wont take chances with verbal calls to customer care. they are known to run at such times.

@bluffy, that secret admirer must have loads of cash then. :)
 
Cant you ask for details like Account Number/Name on the cheque through which payment was done?
 
cheque is paid to vodafone ac.no. there's no way the vodafone ac will by any chance be same for two people. the person who wrote the cheque must have a very bad handwriting for billing dept to make a mistake.

also its paid thru the easy bill outlets where they get a receipt with ac. no too on it. so dont know what went wrong. i cant think of anything.
 
call the concerned operator and ask for the cheque details and i hope you can get hold of the person after getting the account number.

by the way, as far as i remember, vfone also sends cheque and account details via sms when payment is realized.

you may wanna check that sms again just in case.. :)
 
This is what you call wrong posting. It happens mostly with cheque payments. Most probably the amount credited into your a/c was meant for an another a/c no with marginal change in the serial no. Pure data entry mistake.

If you are conscientious enough, do the right thing. Call the CC and inform them. If you use the word wrong posting, that will usually wake them up. Sometimes this posting is corrected in the reconciliation that happens. But the reco time differs from company to company.
 
On my previous vfone number, someone used to randomly recharge my account :P it happened for 3-4 months. That person, who still remains behind the curtain, recharged me for more than 2k in that period :D Though his/her recharge spree stopped all of a sudden :(

This sounds like a sensible option. I guess the next thing is you return the amt to that person.

Course its very important you get the details correct here :)
 
One of my uncle's account saw a credit of more than 5 crores once! He rushed to the bank to clear the doubts/confusion!
