someone pls help me configure my bitcomet 0.59

hi ppl,
i went thru almost all posts containing bittorrent topics and i have seen that most prefer bitcomet over here especially the latest version.
i however dont get gr8 speeds with it and i have concluded that i am not configured it correctly.(i use bitspirit now and find it quite decent)
i use a 64 Kbps connection and am behind a NAT so i guess it means a yellow light in bit tornado.:P .have talked to my cablenetwalla abt port forwarding and he says it may result into hack attempts,viruses etc (????)
so max speed i get is arnd 10-11 KB/s in torrent dwds and 15-16 in direct dwds(idm).with bitspirit the average is arnd 4-5 KB/s
bitcomet starts off well its like 1KB/s then 3 then 5-6-8 then 6-3-1-0- and uploads gng on at 3-4 constantly and then from there my speeds never really pick up.i have asked suggestions in many other sites but ppl over there have hardly experienced a 64 KBps NATed connection and give stoopid suggestions. :@ so i guess as most of u will be facing probs similar to mine. i wud hope someone to help me configure or atleast help me do something so i that i too end up voting for bitcomet in the other thread gng on (i havent voted yet due to that!! :hap2: )

i was curious enuf and underwent the port scan in www.auditmypc.com and the other one.
the only ones i remember being open were a telnet port then 80 then 443 or sumthing and then 8090 which it said that it had no description(auditmypc)
can i use ne one of them as my ports in my client?
i will give a detailed report tomm.

Yup. U can use any u wish. But in general, avoid port 80 if u can, and also telnet (port 23). 8090 is also not a very good candidate, but 443 sounds promising.
 
hello there ppl,
i have taken some screenshots from both the sites and have uploaded them..pls check it out.
also after changing my port to 443 in bitspirit(havent started using bitcomet yet) it is giving a new message as shown in the screenshot but the dwd is continiuing.also i use zone alarm 4.5 free version which i had temporarily switched off to conduct the port scans.
also can u also give me suggestions regarding the dwd limit/upload limit,whether i shud enable certain things in the connection tab of the settings window.

You mean the open message?
Yeah, that shud be there. Open ports are legal, and there is nothing wrong with them, as long as they are open for a reason.
All u have to do is choose any port marked open, or closed (not stealth). They shud work.
If ur downloads are working now, then the major problem is solved.
As for the ul/dl settings, u will have to tell us something about your connection first (ul/dl limits, avg speed for an ftp dload using idman or whatever)

as i have mentioned in my first post itself..i have a 64 Kbps connection(local cablewalla). and i have unlimited upload/dwd limits. i get speeds of 4-5 KB/s average with bitspirit and 1-2 KB/s with all other clients.
my direct dwd speeds with dap/idm is arnd 10-11 on an average and ftp i dunno cuz i dun use much of it.
 
well, then I suggest that u leave the ul/dl limits alone... or set them in the ratio
dl:ul = 1.2:1
And do try bitcomet, trust me, after I switched to bitcomet, my torrents which wud run at max of 3-4kBps run at an average of 12 kBps....
 
may i net ur net connection? (speed etc.) and also ur limits n other imp. settings.

oh and btw where are the others.they all seem to be dead.:P
 
128 kbps night time unlimited sify...
nearly all ports are blocked... but after using GRC I was able to get some P2P s/w working.
But Bit tornado was still slow. So a few days ago I tried Bit Comet and WOW!
As for ul/dl limit settings, I have just left them blank...
 
Auditmypc scan lists 3 ports;2002-Globe(Trojans or Viruses known to use this port are: TransScout.),1125( A description of this port is not available) and 1110( NFSD client status info.) as open....can i use ne one of them as my ports in bitcomet?
