Does any one have a list of songs that can be used to test the new speakers?
I would like to burn them on cd and take it to the dealer.
Preferably english since they are usually easier to find :)

Need that to test Altec ATP3 speakers :cool2: and the Sony MHC RV-22 VDC-MP3 system.

Well it may sound silly but I find Kenny G is quite good to test reproduction of pure notes...
then try any song with heavy bass... Real McCoy for background beats.

well,
Trance maybe Robert Miles
Metal maybe Metallica or New age metal like Linkin Park
a bit of jazz and
so RAP (crap) u know, just to check out the speech clarity :)
hope this helps

speakers usually perform well on high frequencies so take some heavy metal stuf with you.
KennyG bryan adams enrique will all sound good on any speaker.... but metallica or other heavy stuff makes em sweat.

will try out the suggestions ..

So far I have short listed 2 songs for the low-end tests.
1. Song: Burning down the house
Artist: Talking heads
A very good track has realy good bass and great voice clarity. Had heard it on bose a long time ago

2. Song: Brother in arms
Artist: Dire straits
The first minute of this song seems like a real good test for bass.

Planning to throw in Kenny G and Linkin park for some general tests.

B.T.W any one heard of sine torture tests ? It was mentioned on couple of sites as good artifical test to use but don't know where to get the track from

well..i had a small mp3 file called "subwoofer Test", it shook the iwndows of my room on my ATP3 :S will upload as soon as i get it.....

ATP3: only major drawback is the "downward firing" mid-range driver IMHO. gives the sound that feeling of well ...., (how when u use the "loud" switch that you find on many systems, you know where the low and high frequencies are enhanced.)

overall a good product for its price range (locally) of about Rs. 3000~3200.

ps: sound is subjective. The perception of it varies from person to person.

One single song, that almost any DJ cross the world uses to test speaker systems is Sultans of Swing....
The riffs, the strains and the bass voice of da man himself + the cymbals make it (almost) the perfect song.....

For testing the heavy bass beats, pick up any house /trance number

2 songs should be enuff I guess

hey sultans of swing gives crisp bass on my atp3,u shud try it out too(sutans of swing).
try out hotel california by the eagles and "easier to run" by Linkin Park.all hav solid bass.

oh yeah, the first song i heard on my atp3 was 'pushing me away' by linkin park and i was stunned by the bass of the ATP3.u shud definitely try out this song.

If you have it, try using Dance of Eternity from Dream Theater. 90% of the speakers struggle to reproduce the double bass in that song properly. Also speakers have a burn in period. If you listen to brand new speakers, they won't sound the same as the same set thats been used for say a week. So try to get the demo on an old set and not a brand new one.

for testing the bass, try IIO- Runaway Original Mix....

it shook mah room windows at medium volume and full bass.........

nah man...just tht small subwoofer song and this....

oh yeah... Bally sagoo - Chura liya.....nice bass, but no window shakin :p

1.ghost - michael jackson ...u will not regret it !!! :hap2: (especially for car audio system checking as well!)
2.smack my b* up - prodigy
3.lean on me - michael bolton
4.with or without u - (u2 for bass in particular)

For low bass
Bela Fleck and the Flectones - Flight of the cosmic hippo
Many tracks of Bela Fleck have low bass. Vitor Wooten plays bass for Bela Fleck.

Also many tracks in following soundtracks have low bass
Titanic OST
Hunt for the Red October
Ice Station Zebra

For a full range of vocals I would recamend Led Zepplin's "Imagrint Song".

I don't have spell check on this putter, so I hope I got it right. LoL

Got my ATP3 just before weekend, was off on small weekend trip so could not post. Got it from Rashi@pune for 3,150
The speakers sound great really mind blowing ... :cool2:
