**** PRICE REDUCED TO 65K NOW, TAKING A HIT OF 8K STRAIGHT, EVEN THOUGH IT COSTS MUCH MORE HERE IN INDIA THAN MY PURCHASE PRICE OF 73K.

BUT, CAN'T TAKE MORE BASELESS CLAIMS FROM SOME MEMBERS OUT HERE. I HOPE MY LOSS WILL PACIFY THEM ****

I bought this Sony 40" LED TV from Dell, USA and got is shipped here via Borderlinx. It's a custom paid legal import here in India. It's 110-220V, so no need of using a step down transformer, etc.

Brand New in box !! Opened just to take the pics and to ensure it arrived here safe'n'sound

Model: Sony Bravia KDL40EX700

Features:

Full HD 1080p Resolution (1920 x 1080)

LED Backlighting with Slim Design

Wi-Fi® Adapter Ready & BRAVIA® Internet Video

Motionflowâ„¢ 120Hz Technology for Smooth Motion

Ambient Sensor adjusts color based on room light

USB port for photos, music & video playback

Presence Sensor technology

Energy Saving Switch eliminates standby power

It costed me Rs 73000 total (Rs 52000 INR equivalent for the TV + Rs 21000 to Borderlinx for shipping, customs duties and some taxes that Borderlinx charged me).

Retails for about Rs 1 Lac here in India.

Price: Rs 65000 <-- With a very heavy heart, reducing the price to 65000 and taking a loss of 8000. A re-seller offered 65K to my Dad, but if I have to let it go for that ridiculously low price, I'd rather sell it to a TE member than a reseller outside of TE

Selling because Dad wanted to gift it to my sister on her wedding, but stupid Borderlinx delayed the shipment and it arrived after her wedding, so bought the same TV for her from Delhi and now this one's a spare. Already have a 63" Plasma in living room our bedrooms are not large enough to put a 40" TV there, though I wish I were able to replace the old 26" Samsung LCDs that I have in the bedrooms of our home with this latest, stylish LED TV

Brilliant pricing. Much better than sourcing one thru grey. Best of luck with the sale. :)

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

I guess it cost only $799 in the USA Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P which means 799.00 USD = 35,195.95 INR as per current market value of $$ and you paid a shipping & customs duty of Rs.21000/- about US$ 475 which makes it total of Rs.56000/- about US$1270 and you asking for Rs.73000/- about US$1670 even the most expensive one cost no more than US$1100 and you say, you've paid about US$1600 alone for the cost of this TV, I dont know what to say.. STRANGE or AMAZING ..!

Revise your price dude, if you really wish to sell it off.

Did I say I bought it from PC Connection ? I guess not as it's VERY CLEARLY mentioned I bought it from Dell.

Price was US$1079 + taxes. Add $447 for Borderlinx charges (customs duty + shipping costs + taxes).

Convert it by the then conversion rate of 47 and Voila! it comes to may be a little over Rs 73,000

SATISFIED ????

Not yet ??

Okay, add the headache and tension that I had to bear by

1. Calling DHL numerous times when they told me the customs officer has not cleared the package and

asked DHL to revise the price of TV to its curent value in India (Rs 1,05,000), thereby adding customs

duty on the difference PLUS penalties totalling an ADDITIONAL Rs 20,xxx on top of the money (Rs 21K)

that I paid to Borderlinx even before they shipped it from USA

2. Sending them some docs (proof of purchase, letter to the official, etc.) and then following up with them

multiple times on daily basis for 2 weeks

3. Finally, when nothing worked, taking the day off from work and going to DHL counter at the airport, waiting

for 6 hrs. for the customs officerto come out of some meeting and meet me and then convincing him to get

the extra duty + penalty cleared off

SATISFIED NOW ??

I wonder why the heck people start making assumptions and get so confident of themselves that without

even checking with the concerned or knowign the complete details, they start posting wrong information !!!!

Having said all that, lemme ask you: HOW MUCH SHOULD I ASK FOR IT THEN ??

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

WTF is wrong w/ you people! Its his product let him sell it at the price he's comfortable at, he hasn't asked for your suggestions.
PM him if you're that anal.

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

^m0h1t do you see anyone in this thread suggesting a selling price or lowballing? Or is asking the warranty status considered as lowball?

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

even I located the correct price and shipping on the internet, gave the link and total came out to be about 53K shipped to India and this seller reported my thread to be lowballing and got it deleted.

you can all search the internet for this model number and you'll see the correct price.

this seller is selling it like hes selling in the black market, selling a 53k item for 73k (that too open box), mods put a check on him as well, I had done all that in the favor of fellow TE members.

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

^^ your estimate of 53k includes the customs amount??

Dont rush to be judgemental. It's possible that 53k is without the duties? thats why it ended up at 73k. so dont go all out and post things like that man..

Frankly.. the true problem wont be the price for a buyer.. the true problem will always be the warranty.

Sony is always priced high.. be it the initial price or their warranty... its just FRIGIN expensive.. & with items like LCD's etc.. warranty is what will always give you peace of mind in the long run.

check this link... PC Connection Express - Detail
First, I didn't report your post to anyone. I just provided details to baseless and immature conclusion you reached at.

Mods, VERY APPROPRIATELY, deleted your post and my response to it.

Next, it's hard for me to believe that even after my response, you're still posting wrong info :-(

I can give you the benefit of the doubt that may be, even before you read my response, mods

deleted both our posts. So,if you're interested in knowing the details, I can PM you that response.

Interested ????

Now, for those who are really interested to hear from the horse's mouth:

It was bought at Dell and not at PCConnection or some other lousy website. Price was US$1079 + taxes

Borderlinx, that came out to be cheapest when I compared them with other such businesses, charged me

$447 (customs duty + shipping costs + taxes).

If I convert it by the then conversion rate of 47, it comes to may be a little over Rs 73,000

Now, someone outside of TE (a re-seller) offered my Dad Rs 65K for it saying that Sony is selling it for 80K + some freebies.

But, since I checked it myself by going to Ghaffar Mkt (grey mkt), it sells for Rs 72K there, so we refused his

offer of 65K.

Honestly, if I have to bear a loss of 8K on it and sell it for this ultra-low price, I'd rather sell it to a TE member

than some re-seller outside.

So, lemme ask the TE-ians out here: Interested in 65K ??????

It was bought for a gentle cause (to gift it to my sister for her wedding), that didn't work out, Thanks to the shipping

delay by Borderlinx :-( and now I'm trying to have a TE member avail this one heck of a deal than calling that re-seller

back and handing it over to him for 65K.

So, any takers now ????

Btw, on the warranty: I heard that customs duty paid items have warranty in India. But, I'm not even considering that

it has warranty. Assuming no warranty, is 65K STILL HIGH, Huh ? yours_majesty ??

And the buyer may actually get luckier and it may be covered by Sony warranty as it's a legal import here.

Buddy, m0h1t is correct. Mods deleted that useless post by yours_majesty to which m0h1t commented.

Bro, I believe that customs duty paid items have warranty here in India. But, to avoid

any disappointment at the end of the prospective buyer, I'm assuming it has no warranty.

But, you never know :-)

Re: Sony 40" LED TV Full HD 1080P, Brand New in Box, imported from the USA, Custom Pa

I gave the actual picture. When it can be bought for $799 then whos gonna pay $1079, it hardly matters where you buy it from, buying from PCConnections wouldn't transform a Sony LCD-TV to an LG or Samsung bullshit, what matters more is the price, you may have more money to throw, but not all here think the way you do.

Yeah, that's what I tried to convey to yours_majesty (to not be conclusive of anything without actually gathering

all the relevant info).

Especially, when you're posting it in public.

Why post wrong info. and try to change the opinion of all when you don't have all the details !!!!
