Sony has announced the Alpha NEX-5R, the latest in its series of mid-level mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The 16MP 5R adds on-sensor phase detection elements to enable hybrid autofocus, and gains a control dial and dedicated function button over its predecessor, the 5N. The 5R also gains Wi-Fi capabilities and the ability to run proprietary in-camera apps to extend its capabilities.

Sounds promising.Wonder if sony will ever release it in india?
 
This is the first large sensor mirrorless camera that can auto focus/track moving objects ,whats more it can do this at 10fps .Thanks to the 99 point phase detect AF + 25 point contrast detect AF.
Sony india should launch this since they skipped the second generation NEX-C3 and NEX-5n

Unlike the canon implementation hybrid AF on EOS-M which got the title has the slowest mirrorless camera to date.The AF in Sony NEX-5r has got nothing but praises + the class leading Image quality of the older NEX-5N
 
Will have to wait for detailed reviews to find out how good cont AF and AF in low light is but early previews are quite positive.Sony has been quick to release thier RX 100 in india but have chosen not to launch nex c3 or 5N.Hope they launch the 5R by December.
