“Our line-up of PS3 games that will be available through the holidays is unprecedented in terms of volume, variety and innovation, surpassing any previous competitive launch catalog and even our own original offerings for other PlayStation platforms,†said Kaz Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “We are pioneering a new era of true next-generation gaming through such titles as Resistance: Fall of Man, a visually arresting game that takes advantage of the large storage capacity and exceptional visual clarity offered by Blu-ray Disc; and NBA 07, running at full 1080p for the highest resolution image possible, creating hyper-realistic characters and gameplay never seen before.â€

As if simply being able find a PlayStation 3 at launch wasn't incentive enough, Sony announced that packed-in with the first half million PS3 systems shipped in North America will be Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, starring Will Farrell. This puts a copy of the movie into PlayStation 3-owners hands almost a month before the Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby stand-alone street date of December 12, 2006

Whaoo.... now this is what I call Launch Titles ! Although there r not much exclusives in there but still this Launch Line up is way better then the X360's Launch Titles ! :)

Yes, but the third party titles are not really exclusives are they? Not all of them at any rate. While in the case of X360, they were either exclusive, or first on the X360. Not all of them, but that was the impression I received at the time. I don't really follow such stuff very closely.

Now it will be Very Interesting to see whether PS3 Graphics r Really superior to X360's ! All the Time they Boasted of Superior Graphics , we r gonna Find dat out Really soon ! :)

Well, considering a bunch of those titles have been on the x360 for about a year now I'd be dissapointed if the PS3 iterations didn't have superior graphics.

They're called "timed exclusives".

Obviously the graphics are gonna be superior !!! I also predict really quick load times..
I need to find a rich girlfriend really soon... or some tycoon who will adopt me :ohyeah:. $600 for the 60 gig console.. and $60 for a game :@. Considering I'd wanna buy at least 6 of those awesome launch titles, that is close to a grand

how is that an awesome lineup ? given the fact that most of the games are multi-platform. Of the 3 exclusives genji and resistance fall of man look like mediocre titles, should get an avg score of 6-7/10 imho.

Fact : The line up is 10x better than what the Ps2 released with.

Sony's playing it smart by bundling a Blu-Ray movie free though.

And about graphics, the anti-ps3 heat here will probably jump at any evidence they can find to prove it weaker to X360's, but fact remains X360 has been here for almost a year, and Ps3 is only in its early release phase. Make the comparisons when both are in their prime.

You and Bluffy must be best friends. The general consensus is that the Ps3 has a stronger CPU while the X360 has a stronger GPU. The diffrences in quality will be non existant at most.

As for load times, the way things are right now it seems the PS3 will have longer ones as well. Then again, when has a Sony console ever been good at loading times.

Admittedly, Blu-Ray looks dicey from several non-capacity angles. Blu-Ray movies require a 1.5x Blu-Ray drive, or 54Mbits/second. Sony announced that PS3 uses a 2x BD drive, which is 72Mbits/second or 9MB/second. The Xbox 360 uses a 12x DVD, which should give it about 16MB/second. That is significantly faster for games and will result in shorter load times. And that 12x DVD drive should be a whole lot cheaper. (Note that the PS3 drive will do 8x DVD, and even that is faster than 2x BD.)"

Come on man. I can understand you saying that about Genji but Resistance is an awesome looking title right now.

That's true. Ps3 is generally concieved more powerful by casual fans. From the looks now, both are looking to be on par with each other.

But i'll still take the chances of betting Ps3 will improve and even overshadow on X360's killer titles with its own (Metal Gear 4 vs Splinter Cell is going to be good, Resident Evil 5 vs Resident Evil 5 will also be a deciding factor).

I could name tons of titles on the Ps2 with next-to-none loading times. Re4 and GoW for two. Sure Blu-Ray has a slower read speed, but optimizations always can be done.

If load times are slow on the PS3 then it points to really bad engineering. The kind of bandwidth the Cell can handle is more than enough for gaming, if they bog it down with slow components then they should have stuck to the MIPS.

Agreed wrt to the ps2 lineup argument but the xbox 360 launch lineup was more or less the same except for exclusives which were mediocre as well.

Well of the 2-3 resistance gameplay videos i've seen all of them sport monotonous gameplay hence my guess would be it would turn out to be a run of the mill title. We can always wait and watch ;).

imho due to easier development and a better gpu the x360 titles (exclusives) will probably be either on par or slightly better than the ps3 titles. Talking about that brings me to Gears of War which is looking like one of the best looking titles ever to grace a console. Crysis might be better but its still on PC right now.

Hehe what about the near 1 minute load times on GTA titles :P. And re4 and Gow had no load times cause they environments were not of the expansive types rather closed corridor maps. Ofcourse optimsations can be done but when we are talking about expansive environments there is only little that can be done.

You should consider putting yourself up for adoption on e-bay!!:bleh: :bleh:
BTW, i don't really think therew will be much difference between the graphics of the PS3 titles and those of the xbox 360.ultimately which consoles users buy will come down to the games they like.If they liked halo then xbox360 it is and if they like MGS4 then its PS3 all the way!!

True. Even the PS2's lineup of launch games was an absolute flop in comparison.

Params7 said:

On the contrare, I think most multi-platform games that launched earlier on the X360 may have visual improvements once they're brought onto the PS3 owing to the added development time.

Params7 said:

Optimizations? and so early in a consoles life? That will once again only point to shoddy engineering.

I think the PS3 had a really good chance of being exponentially better than the X360 but Sony messed it all up by over emphasizing the importance of Cell and Blu-Ray thereby putting little thought on the rest.

The biggest issue with the PS3 is going to be its "RSX Reality Synthesizer" which in non marketing terms is a castrated G70 with less than half the memory bandwidth of the already outdated(ouch!) 7800GTX. Compared to that the R500 derivative on the xbox 360 is way way more advanced and once people start using the GPU well on both consoles, the effect of a generation gap in graphics between the two consoles will show.
