SONY DROPPED a few choice tid-bits regarding upcoming PS3 titles on its Japanese website, then axed the info just as fast.

According to an article over at 4players.de, six games were listed on Playstation.jp for about twenty four hours before Sony had a change of heart and removed the overly-provocative details.

The question of why Sony is teasing us so remains unanswered.

Bearing in mind that these are just working titles, here's the list:

  • Genji 2 (action)
  • Angel Rings (RPG)
  • Monster Carnival (action RPG)
  • The Eye of Judgement (no genre given)
  • Everybody's Golf 5 (sports)
  • An unspecified installment of Gran Turismo (racing)

Aside from the blip on their website, it's already known that production of Killzone, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Unreal Tournament 2007 are underway.

That's a lot of sequels. It looks like the PS3's launch lineup could be heading for the same-old-same-old flavour that the Xbox 360's launch had. Aww, mom! Grilled cheese again!?
 
Eh? There's a Grand Turismo in there! That's good enough for a launch title.

Wait for few months after that and you got killers title in no time.
 
well ps3 is Gonna Have some killer launch titles :

Metal gear solid 4
fight night round 3
gran tourismo 5
killzone 2
devil may cry 4
the godfather
etc etc etc !
 
Yes they are demon , i mean i know some of those games are gonna come on the xbox360 first but well atleast for the ps3 they are gonna be the launch titles !

Getaway 3 and Vision Gran Turisomo were enough alone, But hell.

Looks like the guy who wrote the article won't be doing the same for Ps3 i guess :P

but it was written on May 27 of 2005! That's old. But i guess we'll be getting most of that list withing at least 6-8 months after the arrival of Ps3, plus tons morew games have been announced after that like UT2007.
 
No wait,MGS4 can't be coming out this year.Kojima has just begun work on it,and,being the perfectionist that he is,and looking at his track record,its traditionally taken about two years for him to make a game...And this being his last MGS game and all,Im sure he's gonna put his everything into it and conclude his direction of the series with a bang.A 2006 launch date is impossible.And WTF FF PS3?! Those guys haven't even released any info on it and they're gonna make it a launch title?! And all Killzone has going for it yet is one movie! I never dreamt it would launch this year! I still doubt those are the final launch titles....
 
Gotta agree with Blade here...I mean,King Kong,Godfather,Fight Night etc. I can believe,but MGS4,FF PS3(I mean c'mon they haven't even named the damn game yet!),Killzone,Warhawk etc....I really find it too hard to believe that those are launch titles...
 
Atleast the games that are realesed on xbox 360 first like godfather , king kong , fight night round 3, hitman blood money , etc etc are sure gonna be the launch titles for ps3 plus its own exclusives like tekken , gran tourismo and maybe just maybe svr2007 !

I also get the feeling that MGS 4 might just be the ps3 US launch title ! Ps3 in japan in gonna come ouit in spring 2006 but in US its coming in winter or maybe even 2007 , so i guess it just might be the launch title for ps3 US !
 
^ You've got a point.And this time Sony will have a good launch title lineup because of all those next-gen multiplatform games.Whether those other games will be ready or not by launch date,I don't know,but the PS3 will definitely have a very robust launch lineup,that much I'm sure of.

Actually,that is more or less true...Well,at least it was...Looks like the PS3 is gonna change that,though...At least I hope so :P

That depends on how easy or tough it is to port to the ps3. I am not totally sure all the games out for the xbox 360 (multi-platform) can be ported in time for the ps3 launch i.e. if they still have a spring 2006 launch in mind. Right now assuming that it will be so is plain foolishness on parts of consumers.

Also the ps3 launch titles posted above are the list of games that were demoed in some form or other @ e3, Sony hasnt officially annnounced anything about the launch titles. But if they are going to face games like gear of war and halo 3 then they better have a good launch lineup.
 
PS3's 2006 game lineup updated

Publisher Success adds two more titles to Sony's next-gen roster; unnamed role-playing game and simulation title get 2006 tag.

The PlayStation 3 is supposed to come out this year, but its projected lineup for 2006 is a bit on the thin side. However, third-party publishers are starting to announce their contributions for the year little by little.

The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Japanese game publisher Success has scheduled to release both of its PS3 games before the end of the calendar year. One is a yet-to-be-named role-playing game, and the other is a simulation game named Hitsuji Mura (Sheep Village). Both games were already announced at 2005's Tokyo Game Show, but their release dates were given the mysterious "To Be Announced" label.

While there are already 71 publishers making 102 games for the PS3, most of the games still carry TBA release dates. With Success' pair added to the list of 2006 hopefuls, there are still only eight titles slated for this year. Koei is the only company that's announced titles for release this spring, when the PS3 may launch in Japan.

Yeah...Well actually,thats the only game I see myself buying on launch day right now.I mean what in the world is all this Mahjong Taikai and stuff?! :S
