Sony Leds are the best in terms of picture quality and clarity. Samsung,LG etc doesn't even come close.

RIP SONY.

Yea.. Selling their cell phone unit.. i can understand. Even though they are churning out quality phones, their phones are just failing to be one among the most desirable devices these days.

But Sony still manufactures the best quality flat panel televisions these days. Their picture quality is way superior to what Samsung or LG has to offer. Shutting down their TV segment sounds really strange and sad to my ears :(
 
I don't think Sony mobiles are the only devices they refuse to repair in India. It was the same for the PS3 and I am sure it is the same for PS4 as well. If in warranty you get a new unit or you have to pay a certain ridiculous amount to get a replacement.

With such odd practices no wonder they are not popular in India.

Outside and within India - They suffer because of their marketing. The phones are good but the pricing is just bad.

Any company whether it's Sony, apple or Samsung etc. Would ask for higher prices for repair for out of warranty products. That's not something that only Sony is doing.

But still, the ASS from these companies is much better and responsive than companies like micromax, lava etc. There ASS is pure shitty or non existent. Not to forget there quality with is non consistent.
 
still people think Sony is overpriced.
Its actually because of all these VFM-features offered by local brands. And since India is a price-conscious market the general mass simply judge a phone by the specs which is also why we are getting dumped with el-cheapo crap. People tend to forget the quality which come with reputed brands.
I still think that Sony can make a nice comeback. They only need to re-think about their market strategy. I would really miss them if they permanently leave. I don't want to get served with low-quality phones man.

Secondly, Out of warranty products are going to cost a lot for getting repaired whether it's for Sony or it's for Samsung or apple. Show me even one instance when other big companies fix out of warranty products for dirt cheap.

Thirdly, the most important point. Every now and then a product does break up even from the best companies that's why warranties are for. And, Chinese and other el chepo companies like micromax and lava etc that you are so fond of dont even honor the products in warranty forget about out of warranty products. As an example: just search for micromax complains on internet and see for yourself how much non existent and pathetic there ASS is even for in warranty products.

They even take months at a stretch to get them repaired/replaced if you are lucky.

I would anyday spend 16k for a Sony mobile rather than 12k micromax that I know might or might not last even a year. Not to forget it's pathetic Chinese warranty(chala to chand tak warna shyam tak).

Many months for a Xolo phone which WAS in warranty. Warranty expired, phone was not given a proper service. Phone condition back to square one. Asking a repair charge of some 6000rs. This is here in New Delhi.
Another Micromax phone in another state. Friend said its been a year now (back then). No word from the parent company nor the service centre.
So I have to agree with your post.

In todays world I trust no ass as end of the day all rate 2-3/5. in terms of phone business.

I still believe old Nokias ass was the best!!!
 
Now I'm going to explain why no phone company has a good after-sales everywhere.

My friend bought some hi-end xolo early last year. Out of 12months warranty period, for 5 months literally his phone was with xolo only for this or that repairs and what not and still after a weeks use the issue reappears. He has gone through wifi chip replcaments to diplays and sim slots. Now 15days back he gave his phone back again as the warranty ceases on 3rd mar, he got fitted a new mobo and now his phone is 100% new except for the cosmetic part.
He should've backed out instead of getting it repaired.

Same with mmax and samsung ass.

This is true with Samsung. They did the same thing with my cousin's old Galaxy phone. They formatted phone and updated the apps and softwares and gave him back. But it was a hardware problem lol. He went to visit them a few times and finally gave up.

I still believe old Nokias ass was the best!!!
Again with Nokia, I and and my cousin (same guy above lol) faced after sales service problem with our phones- his Nokia 5310 Xpress Music, my N72 somewhere in 2009 and my N79 a few years later.
When I gave my N72 for problem diagnosis the lady in the counter just formatted my phone and gave it back and said she had fixed it. Yep everything was gone in a few seconds. I was really mad of course but what could I do. Arguing didn't make any sense. And someone stole this phone.

Next up my N79. I gave this phone for repair about 3 times at three different service centres here in Delhi. Each one yielded the same disappointing result. I had keypad, camera and the lag was really heavy. For the keypad they tried to charge me 2500 at one place so I went to another one who quoted 1500. A friend later told me to visit a local repair centre. The repair guy told me to buy a super glue for 5 bucks and he did it for free. I didnt know what the problem was but just compare the amount 1500rs and 5rs. That's a whopping 1495rs difference. I think that these service centres take customers for fools and try to incur heavy amount on them. I still remember giving a feedback in one of the boxes installed there "pathetic after-sales service."
Such a very good phone and they had to screw it up. :@
I still have this phone even now and keeping it as an emergency phone now lol.

But I feel that Nokia has improved a lot since then esp on its online customer service. They keep in touch with customers 24*7. I commend Nokia for this and the next time I buy phones for my family it will be Nokia phones and Nokia phones only. Sure the features maybe poor or android maybe superior to windows but I love their customer feedback online. I hope that thongs will be better next time.
And yes I'm aware that Nokia is now called Lumia but it happened during the age of Nokia so I used Nokia in my post. :)
