actually details are scarce, but here goes anyway:

Release date : 27th April
Distributor : Milestone
Price (60GB) - 39,990. no word on the 20GB (which is likely being discontinued)

So....we're getting it for Rs.6000 more than the Australian Retail price (Aus$999 for 60GB = Rs 34,000). I guess its far, since if you try to bring an Australian Ps3 to India, you can expect Duty charges at the airport to be around just that mark (4-6k?).

Also those who don't know yet, India is also under the European/Aussie system of PAL region, for gaming and electricity, as well as Bluray Region. So it doesn't matter if you manage to buy your Ps3 from Euro/Aussie/India, they'll function and work exactly the same way.

Also, the US NTSC PS3 will work here with a voltage converter, and will play all PS3 games from any region, but the Ps2 will be restricted to NTSC Ps2 DVD's only, same for Japan with Japanese Ps2 Dvd's.

Now, its extremely important Milestone tries to secure in right for India in its online registration page. Its ridiculous that even though X360 has launched in India, officially at that, we still can't select our Country in the Xbox Live registration and have to fool the servers into thinking we are from one of the accepted countries like the United States.

I hope this is not the case for PlayStationNetwork (PSN).

How is that fair? The Australian PS3 retail price already includes Australian taxes, Australian dealer margin and Australian Import duty. Is sony buying Ps3's for India from Australian retails shelves?
