Laptops Sony Vaio CS24

HEY GUYS,
I NEED TO GET A LAPTOP URGENTLY...I HAVE THOUGHT OF SONY VAIO CS24.....PLZ ADVISE WHETHER i SHOULD GO FOR IT OR CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS SUCH AS DELL & HP.
My budget is 45k and my main uses are gonna be MS Office, Movies, bit of gaming and portable.

I had enquired about DELL Studio- 15 and found that there were some probs like- Overheating, Below avg Camera Quality and size....
In case of Sony I haven't heard much about this particular model (as it has been launched in Mar'09 itself), but for all I know- I have half a mind to buy Sony Vaio as I've been completely smitten by its looks, portabilty and on top of that- its price.(abt 47K with carry case after a bit of haggling)
Considering the Dell Studio 15 and HP dv4 come in a similar range, Plz suggest if my heart's taking me the right way...

By the way...the features in this Sony VAIO model are-

3GB RAM (expandable to 4GB)
250 GB HDD
1.3 MP Motion Eye Cam
Core-2-Duo T 6400 Processor; Intel GM45 Chipset
Intel 4500 MHD Graphics
14.1" Bright LCD Lite Display
Awesome colour combo :hap2:
Really comfortable Keypad with cool touch pad sensors
Capture & AV Mode sensors which, as per the Sony Booklet, means that we can watch movies directly from HD and click pics without having to boot the system all over! (its a danger to security though;) )

Waiting for a response....sp from someone who is using this model currently..
 
If you like the model then go ahead and buy it, but every one knows that for sony you pay a premium for the brand name, not a concern if you already like the look..btw studio 15 has some good features too.. like good GFX card for casual gaming, backlit keyboard, 16:9 15.6" LED hd screen(good for movies), metallic colours can be choosen for the body, probably you 'll get a good proccy too eg. P8400 which consumes less power, produces less heat, for camera (i don't think anyone 'll do photography with that :P )..
 
Sony Vaio's : the 4-5 laptops which i have seen become desktops with usage. battery backup reduces to like 30-40 minutes withing 6 months or so of usage.

Just my observation. Thats why i dont recommend it to anyone.

Dell is what you should look out for
 
Hey. Came across the Sony Vaio CS series too, and seemed like a nice deal. However, one site said the laptop's build quality was rubbish. I'm trying to find corroborating reviews, can't rely on just a single site's opinion, even if it does call itself TrustedReviews. LOL

Believe the Dell you were referring too might have been the older model, not the newer 1555. Not sure tho.

I believe that the Dell Studio version u r talking about (with backlit keypad, ATI, et al) costs more than 50K. My budget was arnd 40-45K and I thought of Vaio only becoz i think that i'm getting a good bargain..
But as Maestro said, I am checking out other forums too and most seem to prefer Dell :console:

PS: If anyone has any 1st hand account of either of these beauties, plz post soon so that I can take thoses factors in consideration also...I badly need a lappy by this weekend!

A little bit of advice, don't overdo it. I spent the whole of yesterday going thru laptop reviews, then forum discussions. Since this will be my 1st time buying one too, I wanted 2 be as thorough as possible, and let me tell you, Too Much Information is not necessarily a good thing.
You seem know your budget and have zeroed in on a couple of models, do your research on them and make your choice.
PS: If anyone has any 1st hand account of either of these beauties, plz post soon so that I can take thoses factors in consideration also...I badly need a lappy by this weekend!

For a Sony, try visiting one of their showrooms and seeing for urself. Try it out, they have a different sort of keypad which apparenty takes some getting used to. I assume your going retail since you need one by this weekend. Don;t think its enough time to configure one from Dell and have it shipped to you within that time, though you can try. Think the Studio 1555 starts at 42k, so if your satisfied with the configuration as is, a Dell reseller may also work out for you.

Hey Maestro...Which models have u zeroed upon (considering the fact u've also done a fair bit of R&D). I guess Dell Studio 15 is looking a good option now! :) m planning to visit the reseller tomorrow itself
