Laptops Sony vaio good or bad for a buy?

i wanted to buy sony vaio since a very long time ,finally i am planning to buy it , wanted to know if sony vaio is really a good lammy or just a show off stuff,
my budget is 60k max to max , i am thinking from where to buy where india or us as my cousion will be comming sometime in december,
give it a thought and any suggestions are welcome

its show off :P not worth the price performance wise..though might be cheaper and hence a bit better from US. Would still recommend something like a Dell/HP/Acer..much better VFM.
 
Vaio's are horribly overpriced and personally i dont like their looks as well. Much better to get a Dell/HP from the US. Another option is Asus which has some stunning machines.
 
^^ the vaio's battery is better than most other laptops. And well, they are a bit costly for the config they offer, but most people overlook it because of the looks.

For 60k thought, check out the dell 1420/1520. They offer very good value for money, and the looks are better than the old dells.

Sony is like Apple i.e. they try to control what you do with their product even after you have bought it. If it's something simple you want that does not have a lot of options like say a TV or a set of headphones then go for a Sony product.

For laptops, if you are a power user, you might want to do more with your laptop like say...re-install the OS. Some time ago, another member of this forum, "superczar" had a very hard time getting certain buttons on his Vaio to work as they required some proprietary s/w to get certain laptop buttons on his Vaio to respond. I think it required that the laptop be taken back to the store.

Also, I've read that Vaio LCD screens are not all that good. It's just the exterior that's flashy(even that seems poorly done to me.) Something like an Acer Ferrari....now that's flashy.
 
hi i know the battery life is not great and expensive to replace or upgrade too ,even its just a show i was very confused.
could u please guide me another system with good features such as grafics card, screen i dont mind it to be small too, i can increase my budget by 10-15k max not more.
