Sony Xperia ion officially launched in India at Rs. 36,999




Sony has announced that they're launching the Xperia Ion in India at Rs 36.999. The launch is coming after Sony launched mid range phones, Neo L and GO last month. the phone will be available in two colours, Red and Black. This will be Sony's highest end phone now, aimed to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC ONE X now.

The Ion has a 4.55 inch screen and runs at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a screen which is known as a HD reality display. It also comes with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and it runs on Android 4.0 (ICS) which was released by google last year.

Airtel customers will also get 500 MB of 3G data free for 3 months, and 200 minutes of mobile TV for 2 months.

The Sony phone will have a 12 Mega Pixel back camera which can record full HD videos and also a front facing can which is VGA. Options for connectivity include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB 2.0, 3G and 2G.

Expensive toy

Expensive OR not, one thing is for sure. It will not be a slipshod plastic-glass fusion like the SAMSUNG phones; for some reason whenever I have used those they just feel cheap in my hand [barring the Galaxy Note].

Though I wish this had a quad-core processor to, bring in the goods.
