Please advice me whether I should I buy SGS2 or the new xperia P?
Min requirement is 4inch screen & max budget is 25k.
My requirement is internet browsing & good camera specs.

That is an interesting comparison..
Head To Head: GS2 vs Xperia P Read the reviews..

As you can see, the difference is mainly in the processing power.. Exynos is head and shoulders above Novathor.. GS2 fares better than Xperia P in each and every benchmark and with a wide margin too.. Although they seem to have the same processor on paper, benchmarks show that GS2 scores twice the frame rate than Xperia P in Nenamark.. That means inside they may be having different running frequencies and modifications.

Next is screen: Xperia P has qHD screen (540 x 960) in 4 inches vs GS2's (480 x 800) in 4.3 inches.. So the pixels per inch favors Xperia P.. But then GS2 has non pentile Super AMOLED Plus screen which is still one of the best screens out there with deep blacks and vivid colours.. Also according to GSM arena the contrast of Xperia P is not that good due to the addition of white pixel (RGBW instead of RGB).. Sunlight legibility should be equal on both..

Next build Quality and Looks: Xperia P has metal unibody and looks better in my opinion.. But the downside is that you cant access battery and GS2 is well built too.. And GS2 uses Gorilla glass whereas Xperia P uses similar scratch resistant glass but I dont think it will be as good as Gorilla glass..

Next is Camera and Music: Xperia P resolves more details than GS2 in photos but also has a bit more noise.. GS2 shoots better videos.. Both have very nice audio output..

Next Browsing and Internet: GS2 already has ICS and it has a better processor and GPU which gives it a boost in browsing speeds.. It can also play full HD flash videos whereas Xperia P struggles to play 720p.. (Both are overkill on 4 inch screens anyway)

Next is battery life: Here also GS2 triumphs Xperia P by a wide margin.. It will last one and half times more than Xperia P according to tests..

Next Money: Xperia P will cost you around 22k if you have coupon in Ebay and GS2 will cost 25k with coupons..

I feel the 3000 more you spend on GS2 will be money well spent.. Go for it..

rtkomar - The Exynos laden 9100 is not available in Indian market anymore. In the past 6 months or so its the OMAP 4430 laden 9100G which is present in India. Its GPU is very weak when compared to the Mali 400 MP4 in the original GSII.
The OMAP 4430 is the same one that is also present in the Galaxy Nexus.

Many people got the Non G version recently , one person called up Flipkart and confirmed it was a Non G Version they were selling.. Sulekha sells the G version , it is written there.

Great. What happened to Samsung :S Flipkart listing now clearly states Mali400MP so thats a normal one and not the G version. But then costs Rs.27,900
Samsung Galaxy S 2 I9100: Price in India, Reviews, Specification: Flipkart.com
Thanks for the heads-up. Was not aware of this recent change in heart of Samsung to start selling the original SII in India.

Ya, that is true.. If it is i9100G, its CPU and GPU are not as good as i9100.. But even then the CPU fares better than Novathor U8500 of Xperia P and GPU is on par with Xperia P according to GSMArena benchmarks (You can check Galaxy Nexus Review).. And rest of the points remain as it is in favor of GS2..

Anyways it is better to confirm with Dealer/Store before buying and try to get Galaxy S2 i9100.. Not i9100G..

rtkomar What about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

If you are fine with Dealer warranty in Ebay, buy Galaxy nexus without thinking too much.. The main thing is it has HD Super AMOLED dispay.. Since display is what you look at all the times it matters the most.. Its 5MP cam is very good with zero shutter lag feature and you will be up to date always on the software front and get to enjoy vanilla android.. And no, its battery life is not as good a GS2.. It has to power a huge display.. This is pronounced more in web browsing when all the AMOLED pixels have to be turned on for displaying white pages..

You can get if for 24k in Ebay..If you have coupons, even less like 22-23k.. Try to buy from a power seller with 98 percent or more rating who has put up his mobile no in Ebay and willing to talk.. Even if you pay 500 Rs more, you will have peace of mind..

Avoid Xperia P if you don't want to take your charger everywhere you go. Moreover it doesn't have a memory card slot so you are completely on its internal memory only.

Get the S2 i9100 if you get it as its much better than the Sony's Xpedia Xperia P.

Hope it helps. :)

Nexus has TI OMAP 4460 and S2 i9100G has TI OMAP 4430. There's a slight difference is in performance. Nexus also offers a pure google experience and IMHO, the best bang for buck phone in that range.

Will the SII get an update on ICS? If not are there quality custom ROMs available for it?
This seems a pretty sweet deal on the Nexus with 99.7% positive feedback: Samsung i9250 Galaxy Google Nexus PRIME 16GB MOBILE PHONE-Titanium Silver(Black) | eBay
How can I get these eBay coupons?
As ariendj told, GS2 has already been updated to ICS and whats more, new ones are coming with ICS installed out of the box. You get plethora of custom ROMs for GS2. Try to get i9100 though.

Ya, the deals looks pretty good. He has no negative feed backs at all. The one I mentioned seems okay too. Just talk to the dealer and see how he sounds, ready to help or not.
You create an Ebay account and wait for Ebay to send you the coupon.. Thats all.. Apart from that there will be many promotions and free gift offers. You will get mail from Ebay about them once you create an account.

Ya, it seems main difference lies in DDR3 Memory of 4460 vs DDR2 of 4430 and GPU Frequencies.
They have given 4430 can clock up to only 1GHz.. But GS2 i9001G comes with 1.2GHz clock, don't know how. 4460 can clock up to 1.5GHz but Samsung has overclocked it to just 1.2GHz, may be to reduce power consumption.

Surprised to see a big no from all you on xperia P! The battery life is definitely pathetic. But SGS2 is more than a year old & very common. Any new phone which is attractive & as good as SGS2 under 25k.

@sri4ever I think the Galaxy Nexus is a no-brainer purchase, especially because of the 1280x720 Super AMOLED display, which is the same resolution as much higher priced Sony Xperia S. Moreover you get to enjoy cool Google branding and stock ICS. Any updates to Android will be rolled out extremely quickly on this phone.

Since the SGS2 has only 960x640 resolution, the superiority of display of the Galaxy Nexus makes it much better Value For Money. Battery life can easily last 18 hours and can go upto more than 24 hours, which is great for the average day.

Sorry if I sounded too biased, but this is my opinion. :)

No support in India is the only thing that stops people from buying it .

Since the SGS2 has only 960x640 resolution

GS2 has only 480 x 800 pixels.. ;) So it favors Galaxy Nexus even more..
Hmm, repair might be a problem though.. Like if you crack your screen, you might not get replacement here as there are no other phones with 4.65 inch HD display in India.. GSIII screen is 4.8 inches.. :(
Just handle it carefully that's all..
