I need a sound card especially for music listening and to couple it with the MX5021.(not gaming). My budget is under 5k,is the asus xonar a gaming support card rather than music?

The MX 5021 sounds awesome when paired with the Asus XONAR DX.I am using it.

The XONAR is not primarily a gaming card, it serves well for music purposes as well :).It should be ~4k.No idea about recent pricing.

The other option you have is Creative X-fi but going by the reviews the XONAR DX seems to be better and infact it's the best option in the under 5k range.

If you have the budget then go for the Xonar essence stx. ITs the best two channel music card in the market. you can buy it for approx 8K from bgs.

well. Thanks 8k is out of my budget. What about the power requirements of the xonar dx,I read it needs something like a floppie power connector but the only one left in the psu is a molex connector i think?

Yes it does need a floppy drive power connector and there must be atleast one of them in your PSU unless it's already connected to a floppy drive.

Also keep in mind that Xonar works on the PCI-E x1 slot and not the standard PCI slot like some other sound cards.
