PC Peripherals Sound card Query...

I am using Logitech Z 5300's and i feel the sound carcks up in games while using onboard... i need to upgrade that to a good sound card... What should i go in for... I dont wanna spend too much but looking for something decent... I game mostly besides occsaaional movies... Suggest me a good card for the following... Also if possible post the approx price of the same...

You don't have a plethora of choices here anyways !

If you are looking for a "cheap" solution then the Sb live 24bit for arnd 2.2k. The other solution is the Audigy 2 which costs around 5-5.4k. Take your pick.

Hey look here. Try to get the Live 5.1! card and mod it to a audigy 2. Should work out very cheap.

^^ AFAIK, that Mod has worked only for a few people. Its worth trying it though. Unless you dont wanna format . Coz anything can happen.

Lol you should keep quiet ! and preferrably very quiet unless you really really know what you are talking abt ! The mod has no known side effects but other then being able to install a2 drivers and getting access to a2 specific apps there isnt much effect on the sound quality. For those not aware the mod guide is present on TE as well.

Well its a old mod ! Nothing new.......people have tried and are done with ! About the "stop posting" and lamer part, well ppl know who's the lamer and who' gotta stop posting. hyeah:

That mod is more or less worthless... it doesnt change the DACs or OP AMPs of the card. Nor does it give the card EAX3/4/ASIO, nor does it allow 24bit processing as the live has an EMU10K1 chip and the audigy has EMU10K2/3 chip. Its a placebo effect which changes the UI of the driver control panels to match the audigy2's UI. This makes ppl think it sounds better .
