She wants to get me a sound card within 40 Pounds price range.

I want to know is there any sound card which has a 5.1 Digital Optical Output Slot?

I'am not a audiophile so it is not necessary for the sound card to be excellent, it should be equal or slight better than the onboard sound of a MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum Motherboard.

Won't a Creative Live! 24-bit External Sound Card outperform any onboard sound quality.

It will beat any onboard sound solution (sound quality wise) except the Analog Devices SoundMAX AD1980/1985/1986 series.
