Hey Frenz...... :)

My new prob  is tht when I play VCD's or ne CD's in my disk crive ( Samsung CD RW -- I know Samsung is crap :ashamed: ) , or when I play certain games , like Fifa 2004 using ne Virtual Cd softwares , or the new demo of UEFA Champoins league my sound gets distorterd or sounds like an old tape recorder tht sounds distorted whn u switch on a mixi !!!! :S

My speakers r fine I guess coz I connect them to my portable cd man and its as gud as its supposed to be ....

So do u think its my onboard sound card trouble ( Asus A7N8X-X with raltek AC 97 ) or just case a of bad cd drive .... but it happens ehn I load virtual cd of fifa 2004 too ....

Hey Mtez,

Wats the best cleaner U guys wud suggest me for cleaning from DVD writer to Cd reader drives ? An All in One ?

well...try enabling DMA for ur CD writer...in Device Manager, ctrl panel.....

this normally happens in PIO mode, where the processor processes the data copied from the CD to HDD, thus it'll be slower in games...

Hey Mate,

Plz explain the steps clearly if its not too much trouble and I played it usin ( game ) virtual cd software and not the writer drive.....

Vcd was played from writer drive !

Tnx

okay...u uing WinXP or 98???

here's wht u do :

1. on the desktop, press win key + pause/break (above page up)
2. Gotot hardware, Device Manager.
3. select IDE/ATA/ATAPI Controllers....
4. Look for ur CD ROM drive in the Primary and Secondary Tabs.
5. If the transfer mode is PIO, then change it into DMA.

thats it.

Hey Sun...

I did tht....Tnx for tht tho I am usin Win 2K...I got the steps form from another site....

But thnx mate......

Do ne of U noe wat DMA and PIO stand for ? And wats the diff...

My VCD prob seems to have been solved once I changed to DMA ...Now I have to see if it re occurs in gamin usin virtual cd...

Tnx all..
