Hello,

As I have onkyo setup, I need to play some music on it via my computer. I'm planning to use digital coxial input way so need to buy sound card for it.

Can anyone suggest me PCI based sound card which supports 5.1 and has coxial output.

Sunliyo has suggested me the one he is using and looks pretty great == Auzentech X-plosion DTS

My budget is max 4.5K (Including shipping from US or KMD Fees).

Looking for suggestions/advises from pedophiles..sorry i meant audiophiles :P

Regards

It doesn't matter too much, honestly. I would run the output off the onboard SPDIF out, if it had one. HD audio specs allow for 48KHz passthrough which lets DTS streams pass through unmangled. Audio is a different story but since you're running an Onkyo receiver, I don't know if you will be able to tell much of a difference.

In short, I would just get the cheapest you can. Price shopping would be better than looking for the absolute best - because it probably doesn't matter at all.

Where are you located? I'm might let go of my EMU 0404. Has bit perfect output and within your budget. Planning to get a better transport. This should be more than good enough for your receiver.

Edit:Err never mind... seems not worth upgrading :P. I better spend on room treatment. Still the EMU is good.

No point wasting money on gamer cards if all you want to do is use it as an SPDIF source. Either of those will do though.

It'll do but there are purer SPDIF sources out there than those. The EMUs and ESI Juli@ come to mind. However you won't get Dolby Digital Live Encoding with either. This is immaterial unless you are trying to play games.

This is for watching movies // music // tv shows // dvds

Games yeah like once is dunno eh.. i think ps3 wud be good option to buy when I think of playin games..

I'll buy anything you guys suggest under 4.5K

Lol...

Okay Karan, thanks for the info but If I don't get any other choices within 2 days in that price...I may go for auzentech only..

Thanks all for the great efforts ... !!!!

This place is fkin great...you guys are sick

One thing i noticed was the EMU series are more for connecting a wide variety of input sources to the computer and sampling and so on,
are there cards which can offer similar kind of sound output but compromise on the inputs so that it can be available at a lower price point.

one of the my major requirements is that the card give me great sound output with the music stored on the comp as the primary source.

Which card are you talking about ? Can you tell exact model ? Is it under my budget requirement ?

Okay I may agree if you guys say this auzentech is useless, but is there anything else I should go for ..just give me amazon/newegg/nehru place link ..I'll get it..but it should be PCI & not 16x
