I was watching the movie Burke and Hare which had a guy singing the scottish folk song Common' Frae The Town in one of the scenes. It sounded very similar to Panchi banu udti phiru. Googling it I found these on youtube

The hindi song (from Chori Chori) sounds just like the above original and was inspired from the Robert Burns poem - Comin thru the rye. Although nowhere on the net I could find any info mentioning this.
Even as early as in 1956 bollywood music was "inspired", kinda questioning how much of our classical old melodies where actually originals? I found similar info about some other songs also such as "Chura liya hai tumne, etc. which was very sad as the only hindi music I listen to is the old stuff and used to love it.
