this is really annoying need to connect speaker and headphone+mic at the same time? I dont want to plugin and change the speakers or headphones everytime I start CS  I dont want to use headphones all the time.
cabinet has front panel support for mic+speaker

lol..exactly the same prob i faced with CSS
do..what i do:

theres somethin kwown as a headfone-splitter..its available at all electronic shops for around 5-10 bucks

its basically a small plastic piece with a st headfone pin on one side (this plugs into the sound card) and TWO female headfone sockets on the other side.

will post pic if req

when you connect the front panel audio connectors to the motherboard, doesn't it give the same audio output as the rear panel. I'm not sure about this.

But if this is so, then connect the front panel audio to motherboard and connect the headphones here whenever you play CSS. :). remember to zero down the speaker volume at this time.

check it out.

using this damage the sound card?
was told using this might overload the sound card because it has to support 2 outputs now and using 2 will reduce sound quality?

DJ,Eazy can somebody shed some light on this?

Im not sure how this will affect the sound card. But since the output is divided by two, u wont get full volume from the headphones as they get their power from the output. It wont affect speakers if they have an inbuilt amp, otherwise speaker voulme could reduce too.

Audio Splitters, really reduce the Sound Quality and Volume of both the parts Attached.

IVe already experienced it.

Theres nothing like having 6 OutPuts and Configuring it for your use :P.

Hmm...i never felt that sound quality was reduced..not sure about volume cos both my speakers n headset are high powered and i never use them at high volumes.

If you have 2 loads in parallel, the combined impedance presented to the amp on the soundcard will become lower that that of a single load.

Most amps struggle a bit when presented with slightly lower impedance loads. However in your case I dont think it will make much of a difference.

I dont mind the loss of quality and lower vol :)
is there anyway this could damage my sound card?

:thanks!:

As I mentioned, it'll only present a lower impedance to your sound-card's amp. This should be quite harmless, but will only make the amp work a little harder thats it.
