Hi gmahendru, welcome to TE :D.

Well, for music, of course a stereo system is the best, cause all of our music is in two channels. But for games, and for DVDs with a Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack, a 5.1 system will be better.
For games, a 5.1 would be considered a necessity, especially if you're into FPS games. For DVDs however, I would personally prefer a good quality 2.1 system rather than a lower quality 5.1
e.g. The Altec Lansing MX5021 is arguably the best sound quality you can get from PC speakers available in india. At around 9K, it blows 5.1 systems costing 20K or more out of the water.
So, make up your mind whether you want pure audio quality, or the surround effects.

Also remember, that getting the most out of a 5.1 system involves proper placement. All 5 satellites have to be equidistant from your ears. Check beforehand if this is possible in your room. Otherwise, you'll not really enjoy your movies as they're meant to.

XD 530s?? Less than 10K?? I dont think so.

I think you mean the Z-5300 for around 12K. They re the only Logitechs which come close to having a 10K price tag.

Of course, less thaN 10K, could mean many things. Even 300 bucks speakers is less than 10 K :p

Yes nikhil,i meant the X 530!

Thts for the international pricing! Infact,i got a pamplet of logitechs latest products and i found that the x530 has an MRP of around 8K. I dont think i am jokin this time;)

not worth it in my opinion.

Better spend another 4K and go for the Z-5300

IMHO if you wanna get logitech, get the Z5500 or nothing else. The low end logitechs suck. If you have a budget of 10K, save 2.5K and get the MX5021 for 7.5K. Believe me you won't regret it.

Edit: Better still invest 1.5K of that on an SB Live 24bit.

Thanks zhopudey...

I think... 2.1 is better in one sense.. 5.1 will be difficult to arrange the speakers "well" for proper listening...

for 2.1 u can have Altec Lansing ATP3 which is absolutely rocking....no second thoughts...wins hands down even when compared to Creative Inspire 4.1....

LOL we are talking of a 10K budget here. Looks like you are true to ur name :p

if u want for dvds dont consider a 2.1 at all. go ahead & buy a 5.1, a good 5.1 will play music good in stereo mode. & for games 2.1 or 5.1 really doesnt matter. 5.1 so far has only been made good use of in doom3. so get a 5.1 if u want for dvds. i own both a 2.1 (mx5021) & 5.1 (logitech z680) so telling from exeprience. its much better to watch a movie on 5.1 speakers.

but if u want for music & ur priority is high for music then go for mx5021. they are great hands down. thats y i bought them for my pc. & they arent bad for movies either. considering your budget is 10k. the only good 5.1 i can suggest is the logitech z5300 which i personally havent heard so cannot comment. or else u can get the mx5021 for around 8k & buy a good soundcard for 2k.

well it has 480w RMS. and 60 watts each satellite and 100watts centre speaker and 120watts subwoofer which is of 6 inches. and its amazing. im audio crazy. ive heard all system before buying like creative inspire 5.1 and altec lansing, artis.but this one is totally different. freq response. 20Hz-20Khz. and supports 10Hz from my audigy 4 cross over freq :O shocking. this is indeed true HT speakers. im happy. gotta buy their 700W RMS soon.

IMHO he should buy the Altec Lansing MX5021E 2.1 Channel THX Speakers or the Logitech Z-5300 5.1 Channel THX Speakers.

Eh why would you buy a 300$ sound card for a low end speaker like that :S. The crossover in creative control panel means nothing as bass management in creative cards is bugged.

well. im poor :( cant afford good speakers for now :( i want creative gigaworks s750 :) and ill get it in 6 months :) but i love my intex speakers. amazing clarity n bass
