hi All,
i am using uTorrent but due to pathetic download speeds i stopped using .. i still have it, havent uninstalled it.
can you help me optimising it . i have an airtel connection with 128 kbps of unlimited conntn.

i have read many tips from johntp.com to optimise it etc but it remains the same 10-12 kbps at the best...and mosty 5-6 kbps !!

OK fine i but once in a while i have seen my uTorrent go to 28-30 kBps speeds. That is when i had tweaked it .. i have lost the screen shots of the tweaks :( ... after that due to variuos reasons i had to re-install again ... and since then i have never been able to achieve the speeds ...

and i am seeing ppl in forums like johntp.com report that they get speeds above 30 kbps !!

is there something that we are missing ...

Airtel 128 these days gives 17-20 in delhi these days, maybe lack of seeds/peers is the problem

check the max speed at

speed.airtelbroadband.in/meter.php

subtract around 2 to get utorrent avg. speed u should get with decent amount of seeders

Please DONT do tht ********* ********** thing again!

ur topic does not gain any more preference by u doing tht

utorrent works on the principal of sharing first and downloading later.

the more u share the more fast u download. keep no. of upload slots - 4 to 6

apply tcp ip patch (if u haven't)

set ur antivirus software to skip checking the folder which it downloads and also to skip checking the program.

set upload speeds to 60% of max download speed.

say ur max download speed is 15kb. so set upload speed to ~9-10kb

once ur program shares a lot u will automatically get a lot in return.

Try playing around on the settings. Go to options and then preference, try lowering your upload ratio.
I get 260kbs+ upload.

1st one already answered by Lord Dragon!!

2nd one - u dont want ur av software checking the app again and again every second for downloading data (since the av will think that it might be a virus/trojan downloading stuff) also the folder where the data will be saved will be subject to continuous monitoring due to data being saved there - leading to slowdowns..

^ Din get your second point.. y does the av have a role in speeds..

@Lord Dragon

In private trackers there is only 1 tracker and that is really good enough for max speeds as the seeders have good bw (one eg. is TL)
