So today, I was working in my factory and my hand hit the glass and all the water fell on my laptop. I pulled the adapter out and my laptop conked off. I haven't put it on again. Called Dell, they will send someone tomorrow and fix it free of cost. I guess paying that little extra for complete cover really helps. It's an xps m1330 btw and I got the warranty extended before the first year was gonna get over. Lets hope everything works out and I don't loose any data.

For now, I'm restricted to surfing on my mobile.

HDD are usually placed well in a Dell Unit, so liquid spills affect only the keyboard, sometimes mobo/ power circuit. Very rare to see a HDD conk off to a regular spill. U should remove the battery and keep it aside ofc.

Probably he will just clean and dry the unit, change the keyboard and get u back online.

Njoi Complete Cover freedom.

I dont think you will get warranty if the dell guy comes to know that the cause of the problem is water, you better keep your laptop dry before he comes. All the best.

^ complete cover covers everything....he can sit on his laptop, crack the screen and get it replaced.......I've done it :P

Me too, water, dropped, broken, conveyor belt damage, just carelessness, done it all & more. They just fix it.

Infact that's the first thing I told them. They didn't create any fuss. The only thing is, I panicked, pulled the plug and slammed the lid shut. So I think the screen's gone too.. Hehe. I also might have spoilt the speakers. But all that's alright.

ok. the technician came and checked every part. He assembled it and put it on. The LCD has a big multi-coloured line going through te center and a replacement part has been scheduled for tuesday. Im currently using the laptop. Some how it feels that the laptop is getting warmer near the hdd and touch pad.
