Hi,

You want to cool a room of 170 square feet approx which will require 1.5 ton ac . if you need a Silent, cool and effecient ac head towards a daikin showroom. there is a 1.5T unit which is priced at 28k. I believe it's a 3 star ac. Remember, for daikin you need to pay for pipes , installation etc. It would overshoot your budget by a couple of thousands but you won't regret your decision.

Other brands to consider are Panasonic, sharp etc.

Try sharp inverter A/C 1.2T . Its very energy efficient and cost wise I have no idea.
Surprisingly, on sharp Ind website, capacity not mentioned in model details!! Can u pl provide exact model for 1.2T & 1.5T?

Daikin offers FT50M, 3 star @Rs.33k incl. all. On web, another equivalent model FT25/35 M also mentioned. Any idea on this?

One more brand have groos influence on me-Toshiba. Any notes...

Hi,

Toshiba makes great compressors and their Ac's in general are very good but the reason i didn't recommend them is service and warranty issues. Toshiba, Mitsubishi etc has very less presence in India market so availability & spares maybe a problem. I bought a Sharp window Ac which again does not have much presence in India. In order to get the thing serviced i had to make numerous calls / escalations and eventually a outsourced engineer showed up who did a shoddy job. Although the AC is pretty good but service is a problem. That maybe the same case with other less known brands like Toshiba, Mitsubishi etc.

You won't go wrong with Daikin. they have well established service network in the country and their products are high quality.
If budget is not a constraint look for O general Ac's.. Nothing comes close to O general's when it comes to sheer cooling & rugged build.

cybertechie: Good info, really! Thanks. Ok. In premium segment, Daikin&O-G shines bright in view of efficient AC & ASS if budget would not be constrained. Any idea on Hitachi? They do have manufacturing facility near Gandhingar, Guj.

Do we consider Onida & Voltas to compare with Panasonic? Any review/comment?

I have two Panasonic splits one 2 star and one 3 star from last year and one OG split. I would really recommend the Panasonic.

They really did cool at 47c Rajasthan temperature and their cooling performance was at par with OG wherein being 8k cheaper. Though OG is tad bit more silent than the penny.

Hi,

Hitachi Ac's were great choice couple of years back. I have heard from a AC expert that their quality seems to have gone down the drain now and they are very expensive too. when i was looking for a Ac 6 months back i was quoted 26.5k for a 3 star under powered( 17, 100 BTu) 1.5 Ton ac from hitachi ( kaze). For that kind of money one would rather go for O general. O general 1.5 ton which is priced at 28k is 19,300 Btu rated which is tad above 1.6 ton.

And there are lot's of horror stories about their horrible after sales service.

I agree with you. Panasonic makes great air conditioners and they are value for money too..

If you want to get the ac under 30k stick to panasonic. you will definitely get a 1.5 ton ac with installation & stabilizer for under 30k. if you can stretch your budget to 35k look at daikin.

You can't compare Onida & voltas to Panasonic.. They are totally different. When it comes to Ac's as a rule it's better to stick with Japanese manufacturer's. Not sure what kind of compressor goes in Voltas & Onida. Voltas aint cheap too. They are priced even more than panasonic in most of the cases.

Someone just got last year's Panaonic split AC model 1.5 ton ( 3 stars) for 24.5k.. The dealer had surplus last year's stock . try to look for last year's model. Cant go wrong with Panasonic at that price.

@cybertechie & mk151 :Dudes, u unfold many facts for me. thanks.

Now, I could scrutinized two : 3 star Daikin & 3 star Panny. If there is no big price gap, I will go sure for Daikin as Sound matters for me.:p

There would definitely be at least 5k difference between Daikin & pansonic since Daikin charges separately for Pipes. Do keep one thing in mind, get the installation of Daikin done by their professionals or else they will not provide you the warranty. As far i remember they have a policy as per which their installation guys will take pictures of installation and mail it to company for warranty. Their installation service is 2k or so.

Go to the store and bargain hard and see if you can manage good discount.

?

Daikin offers FT50M, 3 star @Rs.33k incl. all
.

Do check with Dealer if this quote includes installation by Daikin & the cost of pipe. There is still a little room for negotiation. 31k should be a great price including all.
