Hoila! :D
Guys, a friend of mine is trying to configure his Proxy server. Ppl try to access the internet need to give this address in the lan settings. But there are some intranet sites which needs to be bypassed. This can also be done by giving the address in the IE Lan settings.

What my friend needs is to configure the proxy server itself to bypass any intranet sites and not the client machine.
Any way to do this?

TIA. :)

I doubt if that could be done. It will be too late to tell the proxy itself to bypass something. If it is that difficult to get browser settings changed for all users, then consider employing a mechanism to stop intranet requests from going to the proxy itself.

Another option would to configure squid to work as transparent cache and use iptables to filter the network traffic.

I am not dead sure on what I have written, but I hope this would be the case.

cheers

i really doubt that it can be done... once ur inside a Intranet.. ur in a controlled network... and u cant bypass the control ... unless.. u install a proxy.. which accesses a proxy whic is outside the intranet and has full access to the internet... so u`ll be doing something like a cascading proxy..

The admin of my school wireless network has blocked almost all the other ports except 80. Hence, I cannot enjoy a round of cs/wc3 while I'm in college. Now most here will agree with me that that cannot jsut work so is there some way for me to somehow get these ports opened? It's using the same squid thingy so I thought this would be the right place to post.

First person to assist gets eternal gratitude. My torrents can't wait to start dling at the wonderful, wonderful high speed that the college wifi gives me.

Edit - I'm not very hax00rish if you know what I mean, closest I've tried is experimenting with the metasploit framework. So easy to understand answers will be appreciated.

Which program does your college admin use? My college has a nice 2mbps line and the stupid network admin has installed Cyberoam for administering it, and left it on with the default password. So I opened all the ports I needed and gave my MAC full priority ;)
