well,he is good at marketing himself.
This isn't the first time. He has a Datuk from Malaysia and an honorary doctorate from some British university. He is easily the most known Indian actor outside India. Not popular enough for the American immigration agency though who hit the panic button on seeing certain surnames.

find out who are the biggest donors to yale, harvard and stanford in the recent times. then you will know how these ppl get invited.

SRK, whether you like his movies or not, whether you like his marketing techniques or not, whether you like his ways of making money or not, is a force to reckon with. He has come from probably nowhere and rose to the top of Bollywood. How many can claim such? Almost every other guy out there is related to some or the other actor or politician. It's good to see that for a change.
