Plextor would be better MLC > TLC [H] was very negative in their review of 120GB 840

Kingston SSDNow V300 is also worth considering

Any idea who handles RMA for Plextor in India?

The Plextor specified in the thread is also a TLC, the M5P are the Pro ones which use MLC, trust me when I talk to someone about V300, the only thing they say is Garbage, don't touch a Kingston.

Are you sure Plextors using TLC?
They've changed the NAND to 19mm Toshiba, but it's still MLC, isn't it?

Only the pro versions have toshiba 19nm I think
and m5s has Micron synchronous 25nm MLC,definitely not TLC!!

The Plextor M5S is MLC. Plextor doesn't have any TLC products yet; probably expected only by the end of the year. The only downside with Plextor would be that they don't have any official presence in India, so warranty is handled only by Prime ABGB, if I'm not mistaken.

In any case, if you have the option of a Marvell controller based SSD, I would pick it instead of a Sandforce (SF-2281) controller.

^ Not that great? o_O You mean there's a 120/128GB SSD selling for 6K thats faster & more reliable than the Plextor M5S?[DOUBLEPOST=1369720748][/DOUBLEPOST]

They released a newer version of the M5S sometime at the beginning of this year.
Marvell 88SS9187 with Toshiba ToggleDDR2.0 19nm NAND (MLC)
Edit: Of course, I have no idea which version is shipping here.

Plextor M5S is MLC source

V300 performance is similar to other SF-2281 drives [H] was very positive in their review & its the cheapest SF-2281 + MLC drive i can find

Plextor is better both in performance & reliability but Kingston is cheaper & has manufacturer's warranty

i have no idea how good or bad Kingston's support is so can't comment on that
would be great if anyone could share their views on Kingston's support

Among these two 128GB drives I would suggest the Plextor.
However, if you are considering 250GB then get the Samsung 840. Also Flipkart has a 5% off sale on electronics for today.
