hey guys iam very much confused wether i shld go in for a SSD

now my PC is more than a beast for me and iam really very happy with it ( touch wood )

now the main reason iam changing is that i think its time i moved to SSD coz i have been waiting for good SSD's with good techs and they are here i could argue with myself over SATA 3 SSD's but who knows when will they come out

my main objective is to buy a 120gb but would an 60 gb be better coz its low size so would it be faster?

also is it worth going for 240gb?

iam mainly going for mushkin 120gb good choice?

also was thinking of going 480 sli but i think this SSD upgrade is pending what do u guys say?

there is no difference in performance if the drive is smaller :D

Getting a 60GB boot drive and another 480 for SLI is better than getting a 240GB drive... U just need the SSD to install windows and a few games which u play often... rest can be stored on the bigger disks... It makes a huge difference in startup and game loading times :D

Actually, quiet a few drives have faster rated speeds for larger capacities.. This is because they have more channels of NAND running in parallel.

I don't think this applies to the specific case of the Mushkin Callisto's running on SF1200s..

The SSD will give you a much better overall compute experience as compared to an upgrade to a GTX480. Also, SATA 6Gbps SSDs are already available. Not in India though. Crucial has the RealSSD C300 or something that is SATA 6Gbps and is supposed to be blazing fast.

I would say go for the SSD now and setup the SLI later. Currently all games will run fine on the GTX 480 if you game at 1920x1080. So adding another 480 wont do you much good. You can add it later on when games demand more gpu power. Adding a SSD now will provide you with faster bootup and game game load times. So adding a SSD now makes more sense.

The title is misleading - I thought "good question" but then since you are talking about SLI (getting a SECOND GTX480) then going for the SSD is definitely what you should do :D And looking at that SSD benchmark thread the new Mushkins look like the way to go!

+1 for SSd ...Just got one too and it rocks...

Unfortunately I feel 60Gb is a bit too less...

I am using more than half of it already without even installing steam on it.

It has Win 7 + Apps right now...I want another one for just Game Installations...

Guess I hate installing and uninstalling apps and games....

So yeah get the 120Gb should be enough....

First off, congrats! :D

What apps have you installed that it takes so much space? Mine has Win 7 Ultimate x64 + Catalyst 10.7 + VLC 1.1.1 + foobar + daemon tools lite + Winrar and that's about it I guess. :ashamed:

Don't use Steam. Or at least till now. :P

^^Thanks :-)

didn't take a pic yet so haven't posted. ...

All the ones you mentioned + MS Office 2010 + Adobe Photoshop CS + itunes + Win Amp + Various OC Utils + Mozilla + MS Essentials.....

and a few more I cant recollect...

I have left the paging file on my SSD as I dont want to move it to slower drive.

I have about 50% capacity full or empty whichever way you want to look at it.

I don't mind using the WD640 for games till I can get another for Steam+ Game Installations...

oh thanks guys so i have made the decision and will get it asap

also is mushkin one the best or should i go with other brand?
