They have replaced it with mTunes SD and some vague Zee channel. I have Grand Sports pack and was hoping they'd add Ten instead of Neo in the base pack now.
@puns, how can someone sue TataSky for not giving a premiere channel free?
Its upto the service provider to give or not give channels according to demand. In their terms and conditions its mentioned clearly that even if people pay for the full year, changes to no of channels will be at discretion of TataSky.
I think that ngo adhikar is at a disadvantage for not reading the terms carefully.

They advertise the Mega Packs as saying they'll add any new channels to your pack. That IS misleading advertising. What is stopping them from also adding Ten HD and all future HD channels as also 'Specials'. In fact, on IBF, people subscribed to the mega pack emailed to the CEO complaining and Star Premiere was added to their subscription for free for the remainder of their mega pack.
 
Actually, both of you @6pack & @manu1991 are right. On one hand, TS said they will give new channels for free for the mega / hd pack subscribers and on the other hand if there is termination of services of any channel, they will remove the channel. Its a good petition by the NGO which has a definite chance of winning.
I think TS will have to reimburse customers who have paid for the new channel and will have to provide it free for the mega / hd pack users in the near future because TS has always maintained addition of new channels free of cost. The wont get away as in such public matters, courts favour public petition than a company in many cases.
As for the Neo sports issue, its well within TS discretion as there is termination of services / contract. So its Win one, Lose 1.
If tomorrow a channel shuts down for whatever reason, the service provider is not liable for the loss to a subscriber, money or content wise.
Terms & conditions of TS has really poor wordings but under "Packages" 5.3, 5.4 clause, neo sports issue is covered in their favour.

You say you'l give all new future channels with out additional cost and then you make them pay. Its obviously wrong.

Removing channels from the network, yes that's okay if they are completely removing it. But perhaps a notice period before they do?
 
They did give a notice 2 weeks before removing Neo

they should be looking to add similar categories of channels they remove.
 
What about star sports2, star movies action, mtunes sd, etc like told above? All these channels were given free of cost or added to current subscription.

So they are not misleading. In the case of star premiere HD, probably star Asia might be pulling the strings and forcing dth people to make it as special channel and not clubbing it with rest of star channels. Hence they must be charging money. Else why would videocon too start asking money for the channel?
 
1)They are misleading, if you add 10 channels and out of that add 6 and not add 4, that is not misleading? You did add 6 channels after all.

2) Star is owned by Fox who also own Sky. So the argument is invalid. Unless they are arm twisting themselves.

3) Videocon doesnt have nor does it advertise any Mega packs where they promise to add ALL new channels for free.

if star world premiere HD comes in the regular HD packs for TS users then videocon can approach TDSAT or appropriate authorites to not provide that channel as a standalone channel with premium. because it is then used as a tool to benefit a specific provider. for sakes of level playing field TS then will be forced to price as per normal HD channels.
i for one welcome this PIL made by the NGO.
this will prevent further extortion by DTH operators to ask money for new channels.
this should also help getting HBO defined and HBO hitz in standard HD packs.

IIRC, way back when ESPN had launched their channel even their logo was quite big . Over a period of time they reduced it. Hoping they do the same with Star Sports.

I think they've done it on purpose to grab some attention and make sure the logo registers in your mind.

Useless. I hate star sports channels now. I actually hate all channels now. All logos are huge and many channels put distracting ads while some serial is running. Discovery channels are the worst. The ads come one after another on people's faces, on top of names or text, etc. Its like they put it purposely so a person can't watch something peacefully. Totally retarded act IMO.:mad:

The channel is worth it for the 60 bucks per month. Saves a lot of my downloading bit, don't you think? And I guess it's alright to bear a little bit for such cool shows, no?
 
Yup, I have stopped downloading Modern Family, Homeland, Agents of Shield, Its Always Sunny.. etc. because I watch it here. 1080p quality is sweet.
