Staring problem-No display on monitor

My o/s is windows 7 ultimate. When I cold boot my computer , there is no display on monitor screen but after pressing 'reset' button, I'm taken to' start window normally' and then it bootsup fine. I do'nt know if it is a software or hardware problem.I tried cleaning my computer but to no avail. Restoring back also did not help.Please advise. Thanks.

Try cleaning memory slots, reset CMOS, replace CMOS battery, tight HDD data/power cables. How much old is SMPS and which brand? Complete system configuration would be useful in remedies.
