Start menu and speech bar

As you may know, Microsoft office 2003 has a speech function. When you use it there is a speech bar that controls all the functions. So I merged it with the start menu. But when I take it away, the start menu disappears. When I leave it there, I can not see what applications I am using and can't swtich between applications by using Alt+Tab.

Any ideas on how to fix this?I am using WIndows xp home edition.

Thank you.

Can you provide screenshots, are you talking about task bar or start menu, if it's task bar check if its hidden.

Give more details and screenies.

Take out the language bar from the taskbar(startmenu) first.

1. Now, if you want to correct it manually then, backup the concerned reg entry first using export button. Now go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer on the right pane look for ITBarLayout, delete it and restart your system.

If this does not help, then next time delete both the above reg entry and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser\ delete ITBarLayout and reboot.

2. If step 1 does not help then, download this script and run :
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/xp_taskbar_desktop_fixall.vbs.

3. Last would be disable language bar, while still integrated with taskbar, reboot.
