Figuring stuff out

Well I finally managed to get the reliance conn. that i mentioned in another thread (after threatening to go to the consumer court), and the guy who came for the installation just set my PC for automatic IP addressing by DHCP, now i tried setting a static ip address similar to the one that the server usually assigns, but the connection just won't work that way. Considering that I am not an expert, is it possible for me to set up a static IP address for my PC. Another issue is that My connection keeps getting disconnected automatically on an avg at every 6-8 hrs, after which i need to login again at the reliance page with my ID/PW....is there something I can do to prevent that, or to make the PC reconnect automatically ? (I need to enter the ID/PW on the reliance webpage when that happens.)

@neo

Ideally the dialing/loggin in work should be done by the router automatically..

from whatever u have mntioned in ur post, it seems like a router configuration issue..

Either get in touch with the reliance team to onfigure the oter properly, or u cu try doing it urself..i wud suggest the former..

also, if the reliance team refuses to give u a static IP, settin one up is simple..check ur router make and model number and refer this page for further instructions:

this is a good guide and the site in general offers all the info needed on networking.

post back in case of any other queries..
