Static IP reverts to 0.0.0.0

Picked up a WRT54G from Linksys and am running into a bit of trouble everytime the power goes out. The static IP under the status page reverts to 0.0.0.0.

However under the "Settings" tab the IP I had initially set remains 10.250.1.25 (this is the one SIFY gave me). What I end up doing every time the power goes out is logging into the router and pressing the save settings button!

Does anybody have any ideas so I dont need to do this.

Thanks:huh:

We at my university did face the same problem with the good ol' LInksys WRT54G.The solution that worked for us was flashing the firmware to the latest ver.

Also now we have them all connected with PoE kits so no issues whatsoever.

I wouldnt suggest flashing the firmware, cause if you miss a beat & you have a "dead brick" with you for new year's eve !

The best thing is if its new & holds warranty then get it replaced.

Where are you from ? If you are from bangalore I may be able to help you with the replacements depending upon where you bought it from.

This does seem to be a firmware issue..Is it oonly the IP seetingthat get cleaned out after power outages or do other custom settings also get cleared?

Funny...Sorry dude, can't think of any other reason but the firmware...Try Doing a reflash...

flashing router firmware is a breeze, just make sure u r running on UPS

Did a reflash and it still did not work. What I did was call Linksys India on their toll free no. The guys told me to unplug all the router cables except for the power cable. Next I was told to press down on the hard reset button on the back of the router for sixty seconds. Every 20 seconds I was to pull out the power cable and plug it back in.

This fixed it good. The static IP problem went away doing this.

Linksys tech support in India was pretty good! Unlike their US counterparts who would either disconnect or are non responsive on chat, the Indian guys deserve a medal! :)
