m not sure if i will lissen to cd's but as a back up i should buy ..worth it ?

If you can live without CD's it should be a good buy , looks like it has a 24bit dac too. Only problem with it is limited upgrade options, you will not be able to add an amp easily etc. Was reading that the quality of the JBL headunits were not so great. Otherwise if you want a regular HU with CD functionality it should be around 4.5k for pioneer basic model or you can look at Kenwood or JVC which would be available around 4k
Not sure about the exact models, the sound is mostly similar throughout the range so just check features, USB/aux ipod etc. If you plan to add an amp later you should look for a HU with 3 preouts which will let you connect front , rear channel and sub.
Pioneer is cheaper as a grey market item but you lose warranty. JVC and Kenwood are priced low including B&W

if you want to add an amp or a sub later better look for HU from pioneer like DEH-3490 or DEH -6390.

you can get any brands of coaxial speakers in that budget but they will lack bass and might feel sparkling in treble.
if you want to add an amp later look for 2-way component speakers to begin with. its output will be better once you add an amp to it.

I got a Pioneer HU (DEH2190) a year and half back... The Head Unit with 2 3-way Rear Speakers and 2 front tweeters cost me ~ 6k at that time ... Do check if these newer versions offer song shuffle function, coz in mine songs dont shuffle

gonna listen to house n trance music..so lookin for a decent bass.. i think 2 ways component speaker will do that job right ? but which ones ?

bought the ICE for my scorpio this saturday pics in everyday showoff thread.
to get the full potential of the component speakers an amp is recommended.
if you plan to get an amp later then avoid getting component speakers which has 2 ohm impedance.
since such component speakers will put unnecessary load on your HU.
if you plan to get component speakers for now to be powered on a HU get a 4 ohm impedance component speakers.
look among the auditor/powerbass/illusion/kicker/rockford fosgate brands.

also to get an idea two way component speakers start from the range of 4.5k and 3- way component speakers in the range of 5k minimum to start with.

dude are the 2ways speakers n component speakers two different things.. my friend had installed a 2way speakers + pioneer stereo in swift.. they really sound good without an amp too ..m not sure if they r 2 way component speakers .... i will check the model no n let u know ...

for a small car i .e santro you can go with a 3- way coaxial speakers too . they would cost max about 3k.
go for component speakers in case if you want to add an amp later.
only a component speaker can bring out the difference if connected to an amp.
so later if you would desire to go for an amp you would then have to replace the coxial speakers as well as get an amp.
so increased cost for future upgrades.

if you plan to go for an amp later look for pioneer DEH-3490 and above as it has 3 pre outs.
1490 should do good if you do not plan to add an amp later.
and secondly why are you stuck with pioneer? try different brands of speakers. there are many brands available which offer better vfm options
if you can travel to mira road- bhayandar for installing your ICE meet up with ramie. or atleast try to get the core components right
