Strange boot up problem.

Alright guys i have dual boot xp and windows 7.Now from few days i am encountering a strange problem.

IN XP
When the system is first time started i get the xp loading screen then after that blue screen and then it goes black and the monitor shows no signal sign. But i can hear the windows welcome sound.

IN WIN7
That black screen is replaced by bsod.and it forces to restart.

After restart both the windows starts to work normally.Which means whenever i start the system for the first time it refuses to start.Only when it is restarted it acts normally.

Now how to solve this problem.

well no clue about it but if BSOD is there then it means some kind of hardware failure just take out your ram and re install it in different slots.

Did you just reassembled your pc recently or installed any new hardware or overclocked you pc.?

run the fixboot and the fixmbr tool with the help of windows xp bootable cd by booting with it. Now the windows 7 bootloader will be replaced by the xp bootloader. Now install a tool like vistaboot pro in window xp (which was a free version) and try writing/restoring windows 7 boot loader. Now you get the dual boot. But IMO the fixboot is very essential and the fixmbr is optional. But i used to run both when i want to restore the win xp bootloader...

If the above doesnt cure the issue, then its "O/S re-install time" buddy....

Hope this helps...

thanks will try and report back.:)

Also run a system scan.

At command prompt with admin privileges, type:
sfc /SCANNOW

I feel its the ntoskrnl file which might have been corrupted, as i too had a similar problem with XP a long time back ~ 2004. However on restart, it used to remain the same. Finally had to format.
