Strange ebay transaction

Guys , need some info on this

A wierd thing happened today . I made a payment on ebay via a debit card...

i Selected the debit cards option from the ebay payment page itself, entered card details and the transaction went through successfully without even asking for the 3d secure password... it did not go the 3d password page at all..is this normal?

last time i payed via the same option , it took me to the 3d secure pass page but today it did not.

even though the info entered was on a encrypted page, i am worried if the card details can be misused
 
It does always pop up for my debit card as well (When I use snapfish.in and excitinglives.com), but have never used it with Ebay.in
 
The 3d secure page is essential for any online transaction in India to my knowledge.
I have always encountered it, even for transactions on ebay.in. I think it was a glitch, though highly unlikely.
However I'd advise to to immediately change your PIN and 3D secure password to be on the safe side.

Agreed.Indian sites asks PIn .Its the US one where just it moves forward.CHances of loosing data is high.Change your PIN immediately.
 
Almost reverse happened to me yesterday. Paid for something via CC, the next page took me to the 3D secure page (which never does for me most of the time) and then the transaction did not complete. After seeing the message "processing transaction, do not press back, forward or refresh" for 15 minutes, I called up my CC customer care, and they confirmed that no payment has been made from my CC.
 
I have always been asked for 3D secure, whenever i have used my credit card.
Never used debit card for any transactions, as we can use the internet banking facility instead.
 
I can't say about this..I have used debit cards via normal payment and it asks for all the details..Cant say about 3d..
 
I faced following just now.

I booked 2 ticked on IRCTC using my ICICI netbanking. After entering the ICICI transaction password, it accepted my payment without even verifying the debit card grid values which it normally does.

I've experienced this before, was wondering what happened then. The next time I booked, it asked me only for the PIN though. But when I booked it again, it asked me for the 3D secure password.

The grid values are not asked for transactions done on IRCTC using ICICI Netbanking, have noticed it numerous times. I guess its intentional from the bank's side, but not sure why.
 
I use axis bank visa debit card for ebay transactions. I always get VBV password site.

Right, ICICI stopped asking gridvalues for IRCTC transactions. May be to speed up the transaction, otherwise tatkal tickets might get over :P Even in SBI netbanking, its just login password is enough when we use with IRCTC.
 
i have linked my citi card with account so every transaction of my cc goes through bank account login/pin but for amazon.com purchases. it sometimes is scary. you just input card details click buy.. transacton is complete!!

might be as pointed out Indian portals ask for pin.

IRCTC is the only exemption to 3DSC/VbV code. At least in my experience, it never asked.

Apart from it, it's mandatory for every debit card, as well as credit card (recent implementation by RBI). Also, every POS transaction is going to be verified by PIN as per latest RBI guidelines, be it any card.

If the site didn't ask for 3DSC, then don't panic. The transaction wouldn't complete, at least 100% in the case of debit card.

Next time refrain debit card n do online transfer instead.
