Storage Solutions Strange Problem with USB HDD !!!

My friend has a strange problem with the USB Portable Seagate HDD that he got - It gets detected, shows in the Device Manager but no Removable Drive shows up in My Computer :S . This happens in every single computer that it has been tried on. Any help would be appreciated in this.
 
It should show up as another Hard Disk :S.

If it doesnt, go to My computer, right click, Manage... Storage.. removable storage or disk management. It should show there.

Else get the thing replaced.

goto control panel/adminstrative tools/compter management/disk management/right click your usb drive and assign a drive letter, it should show up in my computer now.

Nope goldie, you did not mention anything about right clicking and assigning a drive letter :cool2: only after that would it show up in my computer, i hope :no:

anyways, if any of our advise helps freaky i would be happier :D
 
Will try what u've both suggested. But all this is ok if the problem is in one comp. This happens in every comp that its been tried on. Dunno why. Stupid HDD :@
 
Freaky as deejay said, your drive needs to formatted and partitoned for windows to recognise it. thought you would have done it.
