strange Wireless range problem

i have a wifi router at my home. recently got a new toshiba m900. it doesnot catch wifi signal outside the room in which router is placed. infact all other devices catch the signal everywhere inside my home, except my laptop. please help..
 
look at the power settings/ device settings via device manager for your wifi adapter.

transmit power is the option you are looking at.

kills battery life noticeably.
